I agree that a squad shouldn't be built with 22 superstars, but it should be built with players that, if not superstars you have a fighting chance of moving on if they don't work AND perhaps even make a few bob on them!Blend said:DontLookBackInAnger said:On the Bellamy scale of shit signings, he would rate a 10.
Bellamy wasn't a shit signing and nor would Neil be. I don't like either of them as people, but both are decent players and will do a job when called on. A good squad isn't built up of 22 superstars.
I don't know the workings of his contract, so it's difficult for me to judge if he's being paid too much etc. All I can say is that when we signed him he was fit and when he played he has been more than worth his salt. Obviously if he remains injured it will have been a poor signing, but that's difficult to predict. Even if we sign a few quality strikers, provided Bellamy stays fit, I still believe he'll be an important member of the squad. I think it's overly harsh to criticise Hughes for the purchase based on his injury record at City.
Neil's a dirty shit, I don't like him and don't want us to sign him. I don't think we need another right back and don't think we should sign Johnson; who I don't rat anywaye. He has one good game against a pub side and is suddenly worth 15mil...? Zaba is a great right back and Micah will learn to be a better one.
It still doesn't hide from that fact that Neil is a solid right back, who, despite the fact that he is a dirty, cheating shit, is never taken for a mug.
