Next Captain

Dias - born leader

I dont think KDB is a leader just like Sergio isnt.

Laporte seems a bit on an introvert
Stones - i dont think it would be good for him - let him focus on his own performances.

its not just about KDB being the best player, he has leadership qualities too and always try to give his best even when things arent going great.

Dias has shown great ability, he has leadership qualities no doubt but club captaincy shouldnt be awarded after doing well in your debut season, it should be earned over several seasons of hardwork and dedication imo.
A Captain should be the best man for the job,the one who displays the qualities required......the only regular currently doing such is Dias.

It matters not that he has recently joined,in fact teammates not already being overly familiar with him might even be a plus.

early days but if Stones can stay fit and play at the level he has achieved , then he would get my vote , mainly because he speaks and understands the language and will be able to bat away the snidey questions and comments from pundits and the media. Also the fact at 25/26 years old he his approaching his prime.

At the moment Kev, Dias has all the qualities and is young enough to succeed Kev

The great bonus is that we now have 2 bonafide leaders in the squad - and in different positions defence and attack that lead by example

Dias is already doing it, he’s positioning himself as the go to guy

it could be seen by Ray Charles that he’s a leader, and the biggest barometer is that if we had one already, it wouldn’t be being challenged...

If anyone has read Peps thoughts on this, books and articles, he states that it is an organic process, he won’t force his opinion but it will develop naturally; well for me I haven’t seen a more natural fit than Dias since Komps stepped up...

when guys like this talk, his peers listen, and it’s normally reinforced by the success that accompanies it!

I feel a captain has to be inspirational, lead by example, not be scared to upset people if they arent performing. Does a captain have to be a captain on the pitch, or also in the dressing room and represent the face of the club ? Vincent a prime example of an across the board captain and leader. Dias has done so well, but as mentioned above, dont know about language issues for him. I think captaincy has to be earned over a period of time taking all the above into consideration. KDB for me, but Dias in 2-3 years if he continues as he has started, some player. Thank heavens we didnt get Koulibaly. Funny how some players just quickly adapt and others take time.

Kev has been voted in , unless he doesnt want it , it will stay with him . Let ruby settle in a bit longer , he leads anyway , sometimes it is a burden

There are many successful examples of awarding a captaincy to a young person of obvious captain qualities (Bobby Moore, Will Carling - the situation is the same with other sports). I accept the communication issue with Dias but that is easily dealt with and reduced in significance. The position of centre back lends itself really well to the extra responsibility so for me leave it a year if you want but the sooner Dias gets it the better.

The more I think about the Koulibaly saga the more I realise how desperate we were. So desperate we were willing to get ripped off by a club who had a history of taking the p!ss out of us, well done City, I will never doubt your stewardship of our great club again.

No link , the players choose , pep has said it several times ,they chose dave and theh chose kev
They chose Fernandinho, not De Bruyne if I recall. De Bruyne is vice-captain, and then I think it's Aguero and Sterling.

So if Fernandinho leaves they'll choose again.
