We normally give the club captaincy to either the longest serving player or the most senior player. If it's longest serving then it would be De Bruyne and if it's the oldest it would be Gundogan.

I think the players elect five players to be part of a leadership group at the start of each season.

This season the rank was:

Club captain - Fernandinho
Vice-captain - Gundogan
3rd captain - Dias
4th captain - De Bruyne

My guess is we'll give Gundo the captaincy as he's the most senior player and clearly a well respected member of the dressing room otherwise the players wouldn't have voted him to be vice-captain. After his heroics against Villa and the fact that it could well be his last season at the club I think he deserves it.

It should be Kev, but I reckon they will vote for Gundog & once he probably moves on next season, Kev will be wearing the armband. Similar process to Silva & Fernie in previous years.

We have finally found the heir to Kompany,not only in footballing talent but also in terms of his ability to lead and inspire.
Its clear the lad wants to be the best and its also clear he demands that of others too.

I'm really stunned there are some looking past De Bruyne as captain!!

Dias is a great vice capt and Gundogan will be a great CLUB captain.

However without De Bruyne, we don't tick as well and we don't drive forward as well. He's our Capt Fantastic!

Seeing an 'angry and determined' Kevin De Bruyne is like no other sight in the game! When sets off on those runs, dragging the team up with him, he also takes the fans with him!

He's inspirational and, dareIsayit, 'magical' when he switches on! He's superb even when he plays at 50%!!

Looking beyond him is disrespectful and I hope the team WANT him to lead the new look City onto the next stage.

He deserves it and Dias will have plenty of years to lead in the future.

KdB was reported to not be pleased when they preferred Ferna.

As @Bigga suggested earlier, Gundogan is a perfect candidate for club captain. Speaks well and has the perfect demeanour for the role.
