Next Captain

No, just as long as he is a player at the club. It is ok you know, we can have different opinions on this without you attempting to belittle my opinion.
Oh really? Have you read some of the replies to this post? "Absolute horse shit", "mind blowing bullshit", "up there with the shitest threads", "no new captain move on"....

Of course you're welcome to your opinion, as is everyone else. I just think some people need to look at the bigger picture before dismissing it.
Some have even suggested the thread should be deleted. That's the equivalent of closing your eyes, sticking your fingers in your ears and saying no, no, no, no, hoping the issue will go away.

You seem very passionate about Kompany not being captain, I can tell it means a lot to you.

I'm sure Vinnies Injury problems will be put behind him, he's City through and through and going nowhere anytime soon..!
You may well be right but his injury record hardly suggests he'll be able to put it behind him.
He's missed about a third of games since he arrived and the percentage of missed matches is getting progressively worse.
Five or six comebacks from injury this season alone makes grim reading and what's most worrying is they seem to happen when he's doing the most basic parts of the game.
It'l be a tragedy if his career is cut short but we have to put the club first and consider the possibility of a future without him on the pitch,I would give him this season as it's the least he deserves to see whether he can make a sustained recovery.

You can tell that? I already told you, I hope Vinny has an injury free season! I hope he keeps the arm band! I think he's a great captain! We all agree on that.
Where our opinions differ, I don't think he should be guaranteed captain, no matter what.

Nobody knows exactly how Kompany's injury problems are going to pan out. Maybe his career is more or less over, maybe he will turn a corner with it and have a relatively injury free season. Either way, I don't really see why it would be an issue to have him as the club captain who is captain on the pitch when he plays and have a vice captain who takes over in his absence, even if it means the vice captain has the armband for 30 matches over the season. Kompany is a huge figure at the club, I suspect that actively taking the captaincy off him would have a bigger negative effect on the squad than the negative effects (whatever they are, can't really think of any myself) of having a vice captain who ends up having the armband on the pitch more often than not.

Wholeheartedly agree on the captaincy issue,I don't think in modern day football its that relevant from a playing perspective anyway.
My feeling is that with Peps managerial style the captaincy is even less relevant on the pitch as he is almost continually involved from the touchline, something we haven't been used to these last couple of seasons.

That's very true and something I haven't taken into account.

Last season, with Vinny out, we lacked leadership both on the pitch and on the sideline. At least now we'll have that consistent presence in the dugout.
