This is the worrying bit, for me.

No government, especially a Tory one, should feel it can act with impunity. They've got a fee hand for the next decade if Corbyn wins.
I agree, the Tories are well capable of running rampant, a centrist Labour could check this, but it looks like the longest suicide note in history will morph into the biggest political suicide in history.

Aye but if the opposition just says well the tories will win any parliamentry vote anyway so lets not challenge them anyway or lets carry on abstaing everytime to appease a few sothern/midland marginals then that gives them the opportunity to act with impunity anyhow.

Corbyns ideals may not work as a platform for government, but at the moment no labour stratergy looks viable. The whole point of him standing was to widen the debate within the party as to what they stand for and if in the main it's for a socialist agenda then that's what it should do, give the choice to the electorate if they reject it so be it, but as the option has not been there since 87 then who knows the world has changed since the 80's and younger generations seem more open to other idealistic left centre more thinking than the established present centre ground which is right thinking.

Anyway If the boundry changes they want to implement come in before 2020 then it won't matter what way labour go.

Just got the new edition of The Week, and once again this Corbyn fella has been slaughtered. They only report a round up of the weeks newspapers, so it seems to me that all the newspaper owners and Blair hate the guy. That's easily enough for me to like him. I might well join up and vote for him.
Would that be Tony Blair, the most successful leader in the history of the Labour party, ever? Maybe he knows a thing or two about winning elections? The Labour party went with it's heart before with Michael Foot and got absolutely mullered at the General Election, followed by a decade of Thatcherism. Not exactly the smartest move they ever made. They went with their head with Tony Blair and he delivered:
1. Longest period of sustained low inflation since the 60s.
2. Low mortgage rates.
3. Introduced the National Minimum Wage and raised it to £5.52.
4. Over 14,000 more police in England and Wales.
5. Cut overall crime by 32 per cent.
6. Record levels of literacy and numeracy in schools.
7. Young people achieving some of the best ever results at 14, 16, and 18.
8. Funding for every pupil in England has doubled.
9. Employment is at its highest level ever.
10. Written off up to 100 per cent of debt owed by poorest countries.
11. 85,000 more nurses.
12. 32,000 more doctors.
13. Brought back matrons to hospital wards.
14. Devolved power to the Scottish Parliament.
15. Devolved power to the Welsh Assembly.
16. Dads now get paternity leave of 2 weeks for the first time.
17. NHS Direct offering free convenient patient advice.
18. Gift aid was worth £828 million to charities last year.
19. Restored city-wide government to London.
20. Record number of students in higher education.
21. Child benefit up 26 per cent since 1997.
22. Delivered 2,200 Sure Start Children’s Centres.
23. Introduced the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
24. £200 winter fuel payment to pensioners & up to £300 for over-80s.
25. On course to exceed our Kyoto target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
26. Restored devolved government to Northern Ireland.
27. Over 36,000 more teachers in England and 274,000 more support staff and teaching assistants.
28. All full time workers now have a right to 24 days paid holiday.
29. A million pensioners lifted out of poverty.
30. 600,000 children lifted out of relative poverty.
31. Introduced child tax credit giving more money to parents.
32. Scrapped Section 28 and introduced Civil Partnerships.
33. Brought over 1 million social homes up to standard.
34. Inpatient waiting lists down by over half a million since 1997.
35. Banned fox hunting.
36. Cleanest rivers, beaches, drinking water and air since before the industrial revolution.
37. Free TV licences for over-75s.
38. Banned fur farming and the testing of cosmetics on animals.
39. Free breast cancer screening for all women aged between 50-70.
40. Free off peak local bus travel for over-60s.
41. New Deal – helped over 1.8 million people into work.
42. Over 3 million child trust funds have been started.
43. Free eye test for over 60s.
44. More than doubled the number of apprenticeships.
45. Free entry to national museums and galleries.
46. Overseas aid budget more than doubled.
47. Heart disease deaths down by 150,000 and cancer deaths down by 50,000.
48. Cut long-term youth unemployment by 75 per cent.
49. Free nursery places for every three and four-year-olds.
50. Free fruit for most four to six-year-olds at school.
The point being that without a leader who can win Labour will achieve nothing, and even a so called right wing leader like Tony Blair achieved far more than any other Labour leader because he was able to win power. If they elect Corbyn, I think the Labour party will have finally lost the plot.

Labour aren't going to win any votes in parliament, its up to the Tories to lose them. But they can provide an effective opposition by making sure that the Tories fear the consequences of their policies when the next election comes around.

With Corbyn as Labour's leader, the Tories policies will be that bit more Tory. For example, additional cuts to welfare and government spending on top of the ones they're already planning. The nasty party can afford to be even nastier because they know it will not cost them votes.

Nice list. Where's the bit about hundreds of thousands of people killed due to his phony dossier? He's a murdering ****.

I doubt this tory lot care about being brutal or fear labour at all in it's present form, as I said the boundry change proposal will help them secure permamant seats in some area no matter the policies of Labour.
But the parliamentry labour party are in danger of becoming nothing more than an empty threat, as they keep so close to the same centre slightly to the right that the tories are already then people will just look at them and think why bother vote for them if those in power are the same. Labour actually increased their vote in the last election but not where it needed to, it also lost votes in some areas that had dissilusion with them.
I know if Kendal became leader they would lose my vote and if Corbyn wins and is ousted by the PLP then they will be in danger of alienating the grassroots and core voters. this whole debate was to enlighten the party and see what it wants to be going forward, if that is socialist in it's values then so be it., but if not then so be that also.

I think his point that an electable centre left party will achieve a lot more than an unelectable left wing party is valid, maybe they should choose someone like Blair but without the war mongering thrown in, unfortunately for labour they don't appear to have one

A decent centre left Labour Party would piss the next election imho

I get all that, but Blair has blood on his hands. He may well have helped a lot of people in this country, but by fuck he's fucking ruined the lives of thousands (if not more) of families in far flung countries.........maybe that's OK?

Who said it was okay?
