Next seasons home shirt (allegedly)

That away kit would be mint if the sleeves were actually maroon and not fucking lilac!

On the leaked shirt they are not maroon OR lilac – they are actually red, with a black pinstripe, which makes it look like a darker red from a distance, same as the sleeves on the home are navy but the sky blue pinstripe makes them appear a sort of 'airforce' blue.

Saw this on twitter

The away kit never overly bothers me as it is meant to serve the purpose of being a 'change' strip... but WOW, that is truly fucking awful! I actually don't think it would be too bad if the sponsor, badge etc. weren't such a fucking awful, lurid colour... just looks wrong!

Don't agree there fella, sky blue, sky blue, white just ain't City!

ultimately it's still got about the same divi-up of white and the correct blue...as per how number three might look, i'd prefer either, over what we're gonna get. perhaps the number 3 with white shorts would be better cause the blue shorts have been done in our recent history(and pro rata they should be in the bottom draw for half a decade).

None. The shirt is not remotely Manchester City.

Fucking alien to all of us. Can't believe the club has allowed it.

I actually have a feeling some numpty has looked at the results of the badge survey where there was a question on "What colours do you feel relate to MCFC?" (or something along them lines) where Navy has probably got a good result (due to fans bearing in mind the socks) and thought "oh, they want Navy as a prominent colour." Probably a room of numpties that have all nodded reassuringly at eachother and patted themselves on the back.

It's not that. They've been using navy blue as the detail colour for a few years now - certainly dating back to the 2014-15 kit, although I saw flashes of it when they changed the sponsor logo from white to black on the 2011-12 kit. They've been experimenting with what looks recognisable from a brand perspective to foreign fans, in my opinion, plus they seem to be fully buying into Nike's nonsense where they appear to be trying to peddle the idea that teams look more distinctive when they play with their primary colour as both shirt and shorts colour and the secondary colour only used for the socks. Just look at the Nike teams at the Euros who usually have alternate shirt/shorts combinations but now have relegated the secondary to the socks - England, France, Portugal, arguably Turkey if you look closely. I'm pretty sure that when it comes down to it, both Nike and CFG are more interested in what sells City well in untapped markets than they are on what the small pocket of original fans think.

number 1 would work also with the above changes made, which probably suggests that the blue shorts aint the problem
I personally think there are two problems.
One being the navy sleeve design, the other being the blue shirt/short with white socks. A combination that has never been used by City before. So, in my opinion, number 1 wouldn't work.
My point is, if Nike was to get the shorts the right colour, the blue and navy shirt would be a little more bearable.
