Why can't we have MANCHESTER in the collar instead of CITY?

We're the proper Manchester club. Other people around the world do refer to either club as just Manchester. At the moment it's more in favour of rags because they've been more prominent obviously but we have a chance to bring it home before it's too late and we're known as just City.

Like Inter and (AC) Milan even though they're both in Milan. Atletico and (Real Madrid)…. I don't want us to be that team that isn't referred to by their city. After all, we are named after the city, in Manchester City - the City that is Manchester.

Fixed for you.

All of this isn't strictly true though is it? In Spain, Atletico Madrid are referred to as Atletico. Real are known as Madrid. Referring to Atletico as just Madrid would get the back up of any self respecting Colchonero.
Similarly in Italy, AC are known as Milan or Milano. Us English called the blue and blacks Inter Milan but their official name is Internazionale.
Today I flicked my desktop calendar over to July and was met with a picture of Bert Trautmann flying through the air with a backdrop of a packed, uncovered Kippax terrace. There at the top, proudly fluttering in the Moss Side breeze was a giant flag with the legendary "CITY FC" emblazoned across it.
I think some of our fans have worried about the other lot far too much over the years and feel that if we don't slap the name of our city across everything, people might forget that we are from Manchester.

Inter have long been established that. Atletico I'm not sure your right there.

Each club has unique circumstances. Many of our fans want Manchester to be prominent, this probably factored into this badge design (albeit not the main reason as we know Football club made it cluttered). Real are more than likely referred to as Madrid in and out of Spain because Real, is used by many spanish clubs so if you like their case is the opposite to us going with just 'City'. Real being an honour bestowed by the crown, it's not just simply a chosen name either.

The club is clearly trying to push a worldwide CFG 'City' brand but it's a bit at odds with fans that want us to proudly present the club's unique identity.

The point I was trying to make anyway, was if it's a partly a case of using 'City' because it's shorter and really easy to say (like Inter) as oppose to Manchester which could be seen as a bit long-winded (hence, "Man City") - well that's not really the case because foreigners do refer to either club as just Manchester, like people here say Madrid.

With the rags in a trough (which hopefully continues for time eternal), we have the opportunity at this time to establish "Manchester" with ourselves - if the club wanted to.
