Why don't we make our own?

Must be to do with worldwide marketing. Give it Nike and they'll market it for us.

Umm lets learn how to win EPL championships and be a feared power in UCL tournaments before we start an athletic clothing division.
<insert puzzled emoji here>

If we left Nike, i'd prefer Puma; adidas is just as bad as Nike for "you'll wear our generic template and like it!
Not a fan of the non-soccer companies... Under Armor and New Balance.... and all the tier 3 brands would be a disaster for marketing and sales.
(tier 3... Macron, Joma, Umbro, that Chinese brand Villareal uses, Diadora, JD etc)

Nothing wrong with Diadora and Umbro, they make class kits.

umbro are awesome for kits. it would in no way be a disaster

i'd would never buy a New Balance kit, only because of childhood flashbacks when we were ridiculed on the playground because we couldn't afford Adidas, or Nike or Reebok Pump trainers so we had to settle for New Balance or Gola ... will always be seen as cheap in my eyes.

they might look cool, and the kits might be of good quality, but UMBRO doesn't have marketing or shelf presence anymore.
-nothing Umbro is sold in the states.

Southampton did it one season and suddenly went to Adidas by the next. maybe it was too much cost and effort and went back to a 3rd party, imagine that but on the Man City scale .... probably too much hassle.

Do like the idea of CFG buying a manufacturer though, but maybe its a conflict or interest or some FIFA rule that forbids one club supplying kits to another and therefore making money on that deal?

its getting to a point where its a case of making a lot of money of shirt sales if you have a range of iffy kits, or have less money with traditional City kits.

if Nike are that good at marketing and selling shirts, why cant we make money on traditional City kits??
