Next up Weds night - Champions League - whats your view?

The bookies are offering between 2/1 and 5/2 against us qualifying backing up RM's view that we have a 30% chance of going through. Villarreal have only lost once at home this season in La Liga out of 6 matches so it's not a foregone conclusion that Napoli will beat them.

Regardless of whether or not we qualify, it would be good to make a statement to those watching that next year we'll be back and stronger than ever!

We're not going away! Would be good if the players had a win against Bayern to think about in the group stages next year..

play second string i'm hoping... i'd like us too focus more on saturday.
Aren't we playing Chelsea on Monday night? Personally I agree that we should save our best for the big Premier League game. After all, we can play our asses off, beat Bayern and still get eliminated, quite easily. Not really worth the effort and heartache. We should definitely rest Kompany, Yaya and Silva.

2bh if these players can't play saturday-wednesday-monday then they have issues.

full strength both games, win both games, pray for a miracle.

it is going to be a difficult game as they will play with freedom, knowing nothing affects them whatever the result.

but we can do it, if all are firing

Just can''t see Villareal being sufficiently up for it against Napoli. An early goal for Napoli and it'll be all over. Have Villareal said if they're playing their first time?

Our best chance might be if the Napoli fans riot, but that's not likely to hapen if they're winning.

No; I think they've played in the CL before!

;-)

I can see us making wholesale changes tbh. After the 4-1 victory against Bremen yesterday (Ribery 2, Robben 2), all the talk was about Stuttgart next Sunday.
As we are only one point clear at the top Heynckes will want his best possible eleven next weekend.
I reckon Gomez, Müller, Ribery and maybe even Lahm will be rested for the City game. Robben will return to the starting line up as will Rafinha and Timoschchuk.
Contento may start and Heynckes will probably let David Alaba have another game in Schweinsteiger's playmaker role.
It will be interesting tomorrow to see what line up Kicker predicts for Wednesday night.

A couple of Villareal's injured players are back and played yesterday eg Nilmar

But will they play them against Napoli?

Napoli have to assume that City will win, so they have to go out and try and beat Villareal which means they wont be able to play their counter-attacking game

City can beat Bayern if we play in Europe like we do in the Premiership. A win would also give us more co-efficient points so that if we qualify next season we may get an easier draw.
