Next up Weds night - Champions League - whats your view?

Play thge strongest 11 and hope it is good enough to get the three points, then anything else is beyond our control.
The points will raise our co-efficient leading to a hopefully easier draw next year, a better draw in europa if it comes to that and iirc a lot more money to help in the ffp regulations.
(oh, and as it is my first game of the season i want to see us win lol)

Obviously hope we win but don't think it will matter either way, do you remember how bad Villareal were at home against us? And that was when they were still playing for something, they will be saving themselves for their match at weekend. The match will be over by half time

Fortunately Chelsea have an even tougher "do or die" game so they will have to put out a first eleven. Think after 2 games rest Bob has Milner penciled in for the next 2 as he´s probably the only midfielder we have who can do back to back games at full tilt

-- Sun Dec 04, 2011 2:34 pm --

According to their website that´s not how their players see it. We´ll see but they have a rake of players fit again (Cani, Bruno, Nilmar and Senna)

The game against Bayern can only be viewed one way: We must play the strongest team we've got (though I fear 'Overhit' (his crosses) aka Kolorav, and Zaba will be back), and go all out for the win. Yes, it's likely Napoli will see off Villareal, but imagine how we'd feel if we didn't do ourselves justice and Villareal somehow pulled something out of the bag!! On the point of the full backs I do feel very strongly: I cannot see us having ended up in this CL position if Micah and Clichy had played in Napoli, and other vital CL games. It seems the weaker pairing are selected for the hardest games - just seems fucking bonkers to me!!

If Mancini has his main objective as prem league, given we lose Yaya and Kolo after Christmas, I would be tempted to ensure these two started every game from now until they leave.

Hart
Richards
Toure
Lescott
Clichy

NDJ
Milner
Yaya

Silva
Balo
Aguero.

Rests Kompany for Chelsea game just as Lescott got rested yesterday.

I guarantee Overhit and Zaba will be back as fullbacks

Bayern won at the weekend after two previous defeats ........ and Napoli won too ........ it'll take a miracle!

If we go out, congratulations to Napoli and Bayern and good luck to them in the rest of the competition. We should then go and rip the shit up in Europa league.

1) To improve the co efficient
2) To get further experience in playing in a european competition while still playing in prem and domestic cups.
3) We will be in last 32 which is only 8 games away from final as oppose to six in CL.
4) Gives further opportunites for players in our squad to get game time.

I will be disappointed to go out but but hopefully we will be back next season and have the benefit of playing this season. Still on a steep learning curve.

Just a bit unfortunate that our "iffy" performances so far this Season have been in the Champions League. All is not lost though we still have a chance and if it goes against us a consolation prize of the Europa; where a much weakened City would have a goodish chance of making the semi's.

Thinking ahead, it's feasable we could have the Carling Cup in the bag and the Prem almost sewn up by the time the Semis come along. Lets not forget we have a "Bye" in the FA Cup 3rd Round as well.
