Santos forward Neymar is planning to move to Barcelona - but not until 2014 according to his own father.

Neymar da Silva revealed that his 20-year-old son intends to stay in Brazil until after the home World Cup before leaving for Europe.

"He wants to play in Europe," said Neymar's father, quoted in Lancenet as telling Sport.

"We reduced his contract from 2015 to 2014 so that he can play there.

"But he is staying until the World Cup to allow Brazilian football to grow again."

He added: "I believe Barcelona is the best path. Barcelona's football is like that of Neymar. They score from inside the penalty area like Neymar.

"We have to wait. Maybe Barcelona won't want Neymar in 2014.

"How can I say now that Neymar wants to go to Barcelona? The club can't say anything either. It's better that everyone stays quiet for now."

This not making much sense to anyone else? Or just me?

Neymar Senior is obviously a gobshite of immense proportions. He basically states a 1000 times Neymar is going to Barca and then ends on this gem.....

It's better that everyone stays quiet for now

What a bell end.

offer them Tevez is part ex...........but only if deal concluded now or by end of June
And if Tévez won't move there, maybe we could just offer him to Palmeiras...

Neymar won't be leaving Santos until after the 2014 World Cup. Due to the very poor displays from Brazil at the recent World Cups, it was stated from some source in Brazil after the last WC, that there best players were leaving their respective league clubs at too young an age.

That's not to say that preliminary deals will not be ongoing in terms of getting his signature

After watching a few videos, this one stuck out to me:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0dw-wIvqr0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0dw-wIvqr0</a>

Obviously the quality of defenders and keepers is significantly less, but if he can shit on a professional defender from any decent league like he does in that video... sign him up for sure! Crossing, finishing, directing play... everything.
