N'Golo Kante

Apparently he's rejected a new contract, not seen a definite source, just a couple of media sources on twitter and they're also discussing it on Leicester's forum. Arsenal poised to go in for him despite signing Xhaka.

Don't think he's got the passing ability to play for Pep though.

With Gundogan signing, I think there is still a place for a guy like Kante in the midfield....quick, can tackle and never stops....3 of the most important things for a defensive midfield player....Gundogan will be the play maker and the one to link the back 4 to the forwards....we need a runner and Kante could do that job for us! Upgrade over Fernando....I understand this isnt a flashy signing but he would bring something we dont currently have in midfield...

Actually, it will be a flashy signing. He is the flavor of the month. I'm against it personally, but others think it's a great idea.

I guess when I say not flashy, I mean he not going to score a boat load of goals or make 50yard passes but want he would bring is pace, hunger and a nonstop motor to a midfield that has lacked that for a few years.....I understand why many dont think he's good enough for our squad but he's a proven prem player and wouldnt be expensive....I just think if Kroos, Isco are not options...this is a nice plan C....; )

We certainly have spoken to his agent but the Mail probably has it about right - though they omit Juventus from the list of interested parties. So if we're still in its more than likely as a spoiling action to up the price for other parties.
Maciavelli has nothing on football transfers.

I think they will end up asking too much for him, we are not going to get a fair price from any BPL club.

With the targets we have this summer we should concentrate on those first, we might be better off unearthing some of our own bargains like Leicester did. Does anyone know if Pep will be bringing his own scouts or not? It's one area we need to improve on IMO, relatively unheard of players on the cusp of becoming great that we get for a bargain price, basically skipping the year they spend at the club we end up paying extortionate fees to.

He had a great season, no arguing with that, but I wouldn't be signing a £25m+ cheque just yet if it was my money.
Too many one season wonders have moved for big money in recent years. I'm amazed that managers, scouts and owners have thought it a good idea spending a ton of cash on the back of one good season.
Would anyone realistically pay £30m+ for Vardy? Are they 'guaranteed' to produce the same form at a different club, under a different coach, with a different agenda, more higher profile games etc?
He seems like the type of player who will continue to do well tbh but it all depends on how many jobs you give him to do on the pitch and how fluid Pep wants his side to be.

He's the only one of Leicester's "one season wonders" I would want us to go for. His passing is sound enough without being spectacular and most of his game is based around incredible athleticism which at 25 should get better if anything and certainly not worse for a few years. So assuming he's not been up to no good then I'm all for it. Hopefully Pep will realise that in the Prem he is exactly what you need to compliment all the ball players.

That has to be the goal for every club in theory. The problem is that if we had signed Kante a year ago, he probably wouldn't have played anywhere near enough matches and probably wouldn't have got to this level by this point. We have to be prepared to take the odd gamble for the bigger picture, same as with youth players. Things may change under Pep but Pellegrini didn't seem remotely interested in developing players at all, just wanted a team of fully developed (supposedly reliable) 29 year olds as far as possible.

Gone quiet lately, Xhaka went to Arsenal so that looks an unlikely destination. Wonder if we're still interested? A midfield three of Kante, Gundogan, and Silva would be creative and defensively sound. Would be a great option if we can't get Pogba.
