NHS Pay Award, letter to Johnson from my union, please sign if you can

So from reading this thread is it true that nurses earn less than a tenner an hour? Surely not? I pay bar staff about that and they haven't spent years studying to do the job!!
Unless I've read it wrong then fuck yeah they deserve a pay rise.
my mrs is an hca ,health care assistant, when the pandemic started last march she had no chioce and was relocated to ICU,she was then on band 2 but not at the top.of it,her salary £18005,which equates to £9.20 per hour,37.5 hrs per week

she is a immigrant,BAME too
she had to.do.all the shitty jobs within itu, keeping machines going, turning people.over, talking to them, holding their hand, dealing with crying relatives over skype etc cleaning patients

she slept apart from me for 3 months initially until finally in June last year when she saw people partying over VE Day,,,it disgusted her after the sacreficies she was making

all that for £9.20

it makes my cry

Honestly, I don't know how you all do it. So undervalued, it's criminal.

I couldn't believe Jeremy Hunt held onto the Health secretary role. And then we've had someone whose boss referred to them as hopeless in the role for 3 years.

Hopefully Sajid will pull the proverbial finger out.

Sorry to read that, blue.
Not sure how anybody can come on here and argue that the nurses aren’t worth a pay rise.
Doctors, understandably are different as they take home a much larger wage so I wouldn’t necessarily be pushing for them to get much of a rise but people like your wife should definitely be rewarded with an increase.

Genuinely staggered by that. I'm surprised there are still so many who go into the profession - I can only guess its because of job satisfaction rather than financial.
With unsocial hours and band progression the majority of qualified Nurses, not HCA's etc. are on 35/40k.

It always amazes me how tight the Tory purse strings are when public sector employees want a pay rise, and how loose they suddenly become when their friends want a multi-million pound government contract.

There are 285,871 nurses in the NHS. To give each of them a flat 2k pay rise would cost 571m per year. So less than 2 weeks of the extra funding they claimed was available on their bus. To extend that to all NHS staff would cost 2.2bn, roughly 6% of what they spent on a completely ineffective track and trace system.

No different from any other job.
Some good, some bad but most are average in their job.
But the actual job itself is different to most other jobs, surely?
The people doing it will obviously go from good to bad but the actual role they play deserves more than they are currently getting.
