Niall Quinn

Oh short short memories people. Quinn was incredibly biased toward us last season. Not only the last day of the season but throughout the year. Everyone, not just rag mates were moaning and moaning about it. Quinn has heard all of this and is now over-compensating in the other direction. This coupled with him being just a poor commentator anyway leads to my view that the sooner Sky cut him the better. Will never forget his contribution for us on the pitch though.

This.

If you go on rag cafe they all think Quinny is as biased as they come for us and is Sky's designated City pundit. Truth is though is he is just crap at that job and imparts next to no insightful tactical analysis of the match.

And there's the rub. You go on any forum for any club and you'll see everyone ranting and raving that everyone is biased against them and biased towards their rivals.

It's mainly nonsense, borne out of the distorted view of a dyed-in-the-wool football fan who has no concept of the fact that most people who work in the game don't have the same loyalties as them.

I must admit Dave that there's is something a bit off about Quinn's commentary's during City games. Not sure whether in his desperate attempts to seem impartial he goes too far the other way, or whether he's just a really shit commentator, but either way, I understand why he rubs Blues up the wrong way. He certainly gets on my nerves and I've sworn I'm going to mute the bastard from now on!

Quinn has been definitely anti City there have been 3 threads on this and the numerous blues who have noticed this are not wrong.

He has an issue with us.

It's an odd one for me, Billy

My mind doesn't really process commentators when I watch us on the telly. I'm too busy concentrating on the game to really notice that much. I've often got three tiny kids ballooning around too!

I do sometimes notice that there's more excitement if we concede or are under pressure, but that's because we are usually expected to win easily and it's far more newsworthy if Wigan or Stoke take the lead than if we do.

I sometimes think the pundits are very poor in that they don't read the game properly. Platt was one who I thought was dreadful. Townsend is another. Quinn's never struck me as anything like the best but he's never really irritated me.

But I just don't experience this anger some do that commentators/pundits are biased against us. I don't really notice, or give a shit if I'm honest.

It doesn't make me angry, but I'll be honest he in particular (Quinn) does irritate the fuck out of me when he's commentating or being a pundit in the studio during City games. As I say though, I think it's because I want to hear him be biased in our favour in the way that any ex rag on Sky (with the exception of Neville) crawls up their arsehole and extols the virtues of the evil empire.

Platt irritated me. I can remember a European game once he was pundit on and he didn't have a fucking clue. He read the game totally wrong. It's one of the reasons I can't take to him at all. I remember Marwood being really shit too, and having a touch of the Lawrenson-esque clever clogs about him. I often notice the MOTD bunch putting together an "analysis" and it's obvious they've only watched the 8 minutes of highlights.

The most pro-City biased commentary I ever heard was Clive Allen in the Gillingham playoff final. He actually said before the penalties "I just hope that City win this now for the sake of those wonderful fans". I bet Gills fans were spitting feathers on that one.

DD, is it a possibility that it was YOU who mis-read the game? Not having a pop, it's just feasible.
