Nice one Martin Samuel.

Not really fussed about the article, under the rules, UEFA will look at every single deal. Ours is the first to go through, it's big and a bit complicated. They haven't threatened any action, haven't said they are looking into it more than other deals. The press are just hyped up about it all. Martin is whipping himself into a frenzy about things that haven't happened, and probably won't. The press hype it all up, then they wring their hands about how OTT it all is.

One of the (very) few writers that if they have something negative to say about the club I actually give it the time of day excellent piece and straight to the point.

agree with this bit of your post mate i don't instantly dismiss people when talking about city or football unless they're rags! and also i thought the piece was brilliant apart from the use of the word "gyppo" wish he would have used a different word but hey it's his piece and i appreciate his open mind towards not only city but the sport of football.

Who would've thought it? 'little city' those 'noisy neighbours' making the old guard stand up and take notice. Well I for one love it, love how they're afraid of us. The FFPR have no chance of standing up as fair in an independent courthouse, which is where they are pushing us to head.

Rummenige was one of the driving forces of this to deny Hoffenheim the opportunity to compete with Bayern in the transfer market. These sad, sad people will be exposed soon. And our City will be at the forefront of it.

Did they look at Barcelona's recent shirt deal? Didn't hear anything.

Credit where credit is due. Martin Samuel has consistently and cogently argued against the new UEFA rules. As another example, he published a thoughtful article in February in which he followed through how the wealth injected by Abramovitz and Sheik Mansour in the January transfer window was disseminated amongst European clubs.

And why would they do that? Barca's shirt deal came from a completely separate organization; it doesn't even closely resemble City's situation. The other clubs have an issue with our deal because it's quite clearly just a case of shifting a huge amount of money from one Abu Dhabi-backed bank account to another. And to be perfectly honest, I can see their point; we'd all be mightily pissed off if any other team had pulled a stunt like this. But there's nothing they can do about it, so fuck 'em.

I'm delighted with our Etihad deal and think it's great that they're all bitching and moaning about something they can't change, but I don't see any need to lie to myself about what City and Etihad have done here. We've pulled a fast one and we'll get away with it. Fair play to us, I say.

Barcelona agree €150m shirt sponsor deal with Qatar Foundation
• Qatar Foundation to feature alongside Unicef on Barça shirt
• Deal is first paid-for shirt sponsorship in club's history

Barcelona have reached a five-year, €150m (£125m) deal with the Qatar Foundation for it to join Unicef as the Spanish champions' shirt sponsor. Barcelona will receive €30m per season from 2011-12 from the nonprofit organisation, located in the gulf state where the 2022 World Cup will be played.

Barcelona say they will seek a way to combine the two logos but the Qatar Foundation would be the prevalent one if a solution cannot be found. Barcelona's maroon and blue striped shirt was without a sponsor before the club put the children's charity on their shirt fronts in 2006.

The arrangement with the Qatar Foundation marks the first time in the Catalan team's 111-year history that they will be paid to advertise on their jerseys.

Senior club executives described the deal as a "remarkable milestone because it represents a record level of revenue for a football club and has more value still in the current economic climate".

The Qatar Foundation was founded in 1995 by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the emir of Qatar, to bolster education, science and development of the tiny gulf state. The first lady, Sheikha Mozah woman Nasser Al-Missned, is the orgnisation's chairperson.
