Thats it City fans, roll over for the Daily Mail and let them rub your bellies. Fuckin lap dogs.

I cant believe so many continue to fall for what they do. Its so obvious and i even mentioned it in another thread yesterday.

Another poster that can't seperate a coulmnist from his publication.

Samuel is always fair and puts the knife in when he sees fit. Always has. As does Winter.

Is Samuel the fat guy with the beard? If so he always tends to sound fairly neutral on that Sunday Supplement show on Sky, he'll have a go or defend whoever he deems warrents it, which is all you can ask from a journalist. As long as you can back up your position with facts rather than lies I'm happy enough for you to say whatever you think.

Yep, that's the one. He is not always complementary but he does state his case well each time.

Though as pointed out on this thread, quite a few fans call him a rag when he doesn't shower us with praise and call him a top journo when he does.

I just think he is a good journalist and have a bookmark to his column every day. Only thing worth reading in the Mail.

I said earlier, Samuel is hugely pro-City. He's one of the most biased columnists out there.

That's why he got this:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1314670/Roberto-Mancini-Interview-I-came-Manchester-City-win--weather.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... ather.html</a>

and this..

Those 4 don't quite go with your pro-City bias theory though Dave do they.

Why can't you just admit that he is free thinker and writes what he wants whether it is "pro" or "anti" City?

He tries to offset it with the odd semi-critical piece but overall he's well pro-City. He does it on purpose. City know it and he knows it. He's being clever about it as he knows we are going places and he wants to be on the inside.

I can't be arsed trawling his every column but he's continually been almost a lone voice championing our cause.

Is he the only 'intelligent' journalist out there? Why are most of the others so openly anti City when, surely, they all want to be "on the inside" aswell? Henry Winter did a big about face after being 'sold' the project. Martin Samuel and Gabriel Marcotti are the only two football journalists I can take seriously.

I tend to agree with SWP's back here, he just says what he believes and, maybe because he hasn't written agenda-driven bollocks about the Club, City feel they can trust him to be fair and impartial.

He may "appear" overall pro-City as there have been more positive things to write about us than negative, to an un-biased, non-big 4 loving journalist over the past 2 years.

I'm not buying the conspiracy theory. I just think he is a good, neutral journalist.

So the ones who write shit about us are governed by a Sky-loving conspiricy and the ones who write good stuff are fair and impartial?

It's all a game to sell papers by them all, in truth.

Their overriding objective is to get people talking. They all take different approaches to it. An opinion piece has to be controversial, whatever it's angle.

These guys are like the shock-jock journos on Talk Sport. They know their profession. They dont' believe half of what they write.

No, I never said the journalists that spend most of their time writing disparagingly about City are part of any conspiracy. (you seem to be the one that thinks everything pro or anti is part of that). Journalists are human beings, their job is to sell papers but they pick which stories they wish to write about based on their views.

You only have to watch Sunday Supplement to see personal agenda's and favouritism toward their own club laid bare.

Samuel, unlike many of his "profession" is impartial and writes whatever he sees fit to write. He has been allowed full access to the club due to the fact that he is considered one of the best sports writers out there. He is certainly not a "shock jock" type hack, unlike many that write in the tabloids.

A tabloid sports columnist is a shock jock, that's his job. They all are. Samuel included. We'll have to agree to disagree about his "loyalties" or "bias".

He's known as a "friendly" journalist to City, that's why he's been given the big interviews recently. That's why he gets Mancini at home, and others don't. They are the club authorised interviews. He'll get plenty more too.

I'm not arsed, it's all a game, and spin, and manipulation. You have to see through it to get to the truth. I'm just not buying all this "Samuel is a hero" bollocks because he happens to write an article which biased fans agree with.

That I agree with. Hence me putting it earlier.
