On that basis only I am glad they are standing.
I think you're wrong there mate. Any progress the BNP has made is in traditional Labour strongholds. Areas of high unemployment where it's easy to radicalise the poorly educated and give them something or someone tangible to blame.
Well then believe it or not this is a discusion board .there is a general election coming soon & the BNP are putting up candidates .there are already posts about Labour & Tory so we are having a discusion , free speach & all thatffs said:why post this thread
Lucky Toma said:Even aside from everything else if somebody is f***ing stupid enough to vote for the BNP they are contravening their moral obligation as a voter. Because they would be voting for a party who essentially campaigns on a single issue - immigration.
It is for this reason that I have never voted for the Green party even though I am concerned about the environment. Because they too also primarily deal with only one issue (admittedly a very important issue - the air that we breathe!).
Crime, education, healthcare, employment, our diplomatic standing in the world....politics deals with every aspect of life's rich pageant.
Why would anyone wish to vote for a party which obsesses upon one solitary facet whilst neglecting a multitude of others which have argueably much more importance to ourselves, our families, and the society around us?
It would be like going to buy a new car and trying out various dealers.
At the first showroom the guy goes into great detail about the fuel economy, the comfort and leg-room of the seats, the safety features etc
At the next showroom a different salesman also informs you in explicit detail about the car's performance, its engine capacity, and its numerous features.
At the last place you ask the guy a simple question - lets say for example whether it has Sat Nav - and he shrugs. 'I've no idea about cars to be honest mate.....but at least the paintwork is white'.
So what if they said this is a white country, and non-white people should be forcibly removed? Millions of people living in fear because of a bunch of people whose sanity is deeply questionable? If free speech costs lives, then it ain't worth it.marcus said:not sure if banning a political party is your opinion or your just throwing it in to discuss, but , no offence meant, its a ridiculous and dangerous idea. for centuries upon centuries we have been known as a tolerant and democratic country. to start criminalising and banning people for there opinions is fuckin wrong!
whether you agree with the bnp's ideas or not they ARE a legitimate party who SHOULD have as much air time as, say, the communist party.
i just dont agree full stop with this whole 'thought police' thing. if i decide i dont like people from norway, why is it wrong to express my feelings?as long as i dont go roun beating norwegians up what offence am i commiting?
surely thats what free speach and democracy id all about?
First, who voted BNP? They were mainly men: their voted divided 61 per cent male, 39 per cent female. (Men comprise just 48 per cent in the electorate as a whole.)
They were also more working-class. In the country at large, professional workers outnumber manual workers by 20 per cent to 18 per cent. Among BNP voters the pattern is very different: 36 per cent manual workers, 11 per cent professionals.
But perhaps the most startling finding came when we tested anecdotal reports that many BNP voters were old Labour sympathisers who felt that the party no longer speaks up for them. It turns out to be true.
