Your statement was that it suggested to you he wasn't our first, second or third choice. Is that not your belief then? I offered suggestions as to why that may not be the case.

It's a bit redundant to go back and forth about how likely it is that news of transfers get out, particularly in a transfer forum, so happy to leave it.
You either misunderstood what I said or I didn't make myself abundantly clear. I wasn't saying that our late move in the window for Nico was because I BELIEVE he was our third choice. I was offering it amongst many other suggestions, that it COULD also be a reason for our late effort to sign him.

The fact of the matter is I don't know & don't care, as I have no influence over our transfers, other than to say I warned in August 2023 that we were playing a dangerous game by not replacing Philips, & that from what I'd seen of Nunes at Wolves & Sporting, he definitely wasn't the answer to our looming Rodri issue.

Hopefully this clarifies my post & what it meant in the context offered.

Id prefer Bobb slightly deeper than Foden against a deep block as I feel Foden is more obsessed with goals and slightly lacks that David Silva quality that Bobb has.

Although both could be dual 10s with wingers out wide too.
For me Bobb has slightly better close control- best since David Silva- and stronger upper body strength, which means he is less likely to get knocked off the ball. Foden is much better coming through and onto the ball, so ideally they should be able to play together.

Christ, the absence of Bobb has grown him into some mythical god like player in people's minds. By next week he will be Messi!!!

He's played about 5 minutes football and shown some nice touches. That's it.
Haha this is spot on.

I really rate him, and he is a massive talent that could feasibly break through fully any time now, and the type of player he would be at his best is there for all to see. But right now it is just as likely that he never kicks on and his City career fizzles out. He had a good pre-season, community shield and good performances against Brentford and Newcastle last year but not really enough for anyone to proclaim him to be a guaranteed world-class player for us

He's even been compared to David Silva lol.....about as similar to Silva as Alanji is!!

Id like to see O Reilly and Bobb get into midfield as well to get minutes.
Bobb is just coming back from injury and has only ever played on the front line (and just started showing what looked like first team potential in preseason). If McAtee nor Jack can get into the midfield Bobb isnt getting a sniff and likely doesn't have anywhere near the skillset to play there. Just because you have pegs doesn't mean you force them into open holes... especially on a Pep pegboard.

Bobb predominantly played in midfield as an academy player.

Only under Pep has played on the wing, as that is the safest way for Pep to give youth minutes.

His profile is suited centrally though, even moreso than Jack or McAtee.

People seem to be upset with his name being mentioned and people excited by it so Ill probably stop discussing him.

He played 1 season as the attacking mid in the EDS, after palmer got called up and McAtee went out on loan he was out wide for the rest. Bobbs always been a wide player, dont think he always will be tbf.

Aye, Rodri isn’t quick and neither was Fernandinho, both were the vital cog in our midfield that we are lacking right now.

Pace is nuanced anyway, Kovacic is far quicker in terms of acceleration than most wingers dribbling through the centre of the park because he has the control to run with the ball close to his feet, wingers often can’t do this, and rack up better speeds because they have the space to run into out wide.

It’s all relative and realistically, like with most stats, forget it all and just use your eyes.
Reading of the game, reaction time and quick feet are almost as important as pace in central midfield.

True......however the youth of today are obsessed with pointless stats...it's the 'opta' generation ;)

Can guarantee our position will change on this after tomorrow.

We don’t have a choice if the transfermarket number is remotely accurate . They got him valued at 18. Let’s say they are low and he worth more like 25-30, we still can’t pay 50. I imagine Txiki is trying to get out the door for 30.

I think it’s been clarified that transfermarkt is bullshit
