Gets done at 45 ish i recogn if porto pay the 6m and reduce it to 20% the money comes out to about the same and we prob offer favourable terms at that price
Ta, i know theres a figure in there somewhere, but i dont have the brain to do the math tonight (im ill as hell)

yep, gut feeling is someone has said something similar with this kid. We'll find out whos serious soon enough. I cant work out math on whats better for Porto on the 'buying out the 20%' bit.

Haha yeah my brain hasn't had enough sleep or caffeine for it. Was it €6m for the 20%? Pretty much should do it if they have any transfer offered over €30m that they are happy with. Not sure why they would sell for €40m though

So if we pay 60m to them and they give 40% of it to barca that leaves them 36m, minus their 8.5m investment which gives them 27.5 profit, if they pay barca 6m which reduces it to 20% and pay them 45m then they have to give barca 9m which leaves 36m minus 14.5 which leaves 21.5 profit so theres a few mill in it but we mite offer achievable bonuses and favourable terms to forgoe that 2m

Ah is the 6m for 20% only if the release clause isn't met?

Or they pay the €6m, we pay them €47......they get the same, we pay €13m less than the release.....and we both get to say "fuck you Barca" ?
I should have got Txikis' job ;)

Have to admit, I’m not mad keen on the idea of us haggling over the fee for a player who perfectly fits the profile we’ve been desperate for since Rodri’s injury and arguably all season.

Especially when the fee is relatively low for a player who seems to take many boxes, was raised playing Pep’s way of football through Barcelona, has a good reputation in Portugal (coincidentally where our new DoF is from) and has a release clause. Not only that, we can try and play hardball with Porto all we like but it’s mid-season and he’s an important player for them.

When the RC is quite low, I presume they’re not going to willingly negotiate it down with days left of the window. Especially when you consider 20% of it will go to Barca.

Time will tell. But it’s a strange play from us IMO if that’s our plan. Unless we’ve had some signs from the player and his agent on whether they’d be willing to push.

Luckily, it won’t be a saga that drags out for long.
