Rodri didn`t set the world on fire in his first season and a half at City but look at what Pep turned him into. Could happen again with this lad. Every transfer is a gamble.

People easily forget he was benched for the Champions League final in 2021.

You can re-read your own posts.

It’s still In the “I’m not questioning what was said, just asking questions” nonsense.
I don't see there's anything wrong with that question. That person said if Pep feels OK with Nico as our new signing, then we should trust Pep, which I completely agree. But I wasn't sure if Pep would check every player before we sign them, therefore I asked that question. I think that's fair.

Also, the KP example wasn't out of nowhere. In his first few training sessions with us, the coaching staffs(including Pep) already had doubts about him. If Pep really rated him before we signed him, then this wouldn't happen. So it's kind of logical to say the KP transfer didn't happen because Pep checked KP and said this guy is great let's go get him.

Tkixi has been in charge of all our transfers since he became our director of football.

Not all transfers work.

You’re chatting nonsense.

OK, then where's that "Yep, because we’ve got one or two transfers wrong, we need to doubt the credibility of the coach who has transformed football." coming from? Seems like you thought I was dissing on Pep and it's the reason of this conversation happened in the first place?

Yeah, sorry, I was referring to this season, particularly with our run of upcoming fixtures. Dias, unfortunately has had a very disrupted season and while Khusanov is a really exciting prospect, as we saw against, Chelsea he's young and raw.

Brilliant if Gonzalez can solve that issue for us. Its just been incredibly frustrating watching all of our midfield duck challenges and getting steam rolled over since Rodri's injuries. Particularly when we got the sneak preview during his suspension last season, but did nothing to resolve it.
Well, if you are referring to the European teams we are going to encounter this season, it is very probably going to be just one.

.....only a question if Barca want to buy him in the summer, and if they do, they would have agreed that with Barca when we enquired, and already have told us to do one ;)
A part of my point. Seems a nonsense claim that Porto would want tonsell him now to avoid selling in the summer.

Plus, he would then also have a choice and a say. It can probably thus be filed as nonsense.

They don't get 30m straight up in the summer though, they get 18m as 40% is still active?
I'm not suggesting either claim is true, but it would be one or the other. Can't have both, a low buy-back And 40% of that back, doesn't work like that. Barcelona either get 40% of 60m. Or get to buy him back for 30m outright.

Hypothetically of course, as it is all based on hearsay.

I guess realistically we would have to agree the fee today for this to get done in time. Let’s see what today brings

I’ve seen some comments (mainly on the twitter cesspit) suggesting his YouTube highlights are shit.

They’re not. They’re just not full of the usual skills and goals.

He reminds me of the Athletico version of Rodri shown on highlight reels. Tall, strong, a hugely varied passing range and the odd good finish. Which is absolutely fine by me. We’ve got enough eye catching attackers who can score goals, we need a pillar to let them flourish and that’s what Rodri is and Gonzales would be.

Plus if he signed, it could mean that Rodri could move to an 8 because he’s a fantastic asset going forward too. Gonzales could be too.

Really hope this gets done.

When we were after Rice, the idea was that he could deputise in Rodri's absence and roam forwards when they played together. Rice apparently wanted more guaranteed time at 6 though, which is funny considering how he's been used at Arsenal. I agree with you though, not only do I think Rodri can do the role going forward but I think it's a better idea when returning from his injury. Gonzalez can enable that flexibility (and he's good to do both roles as well, especially with Pep's guidance). Hopefully it's sorted soon

Think it gets done tomorrow on deadline day - more negotiations today but deals generally seem to get done on deadline day rather than deadline eve (apart from Benjani who got done on deadline Boxing Day, but they still made us take him)

This is a good point in the sense we are planning for the future.

Next season a midfield of Rodri, Nico and Foden would be really well rounded.

I think one thing we are looking for going forward is players complimenting each other so bringing out their key strengths.

Fernandinho and KDB had a good connection together and made the other better.

Rodri is incredible going forward so having a similar profile of player means they day really form an understanding.

Nico might not be blessed with huge amounts of pace but he’s tenacious, good at breaking lines and versatile, while he does have legs to get up and down.

Really hope this one goes through.
