Maybe it wasn't the reason, but it does have a bearing in all transactions. Isn't that is why we have sold so many young players?
We've sold so many young players, as only the odd couple from every age group will ever have a chance of becoming a fixture in our side, not necessarily make it.... the whole academy is to make money (yes, to help psr) unless we become a non Chumps league team, in which case, a couple more will hopefully be at that level, and stay and play, again which helps psr, but in saving transfer fees paid out. We haven't been 'forced' to sell for psr, it's our current business model.

Hes never seen him play but doesnt think he will fit in
As usual Merson is talking complete nonsense. He goes on to say that once Rodri is back this lad won't get a game. He's too thick to realise that too many games probably played a part in Rodri's injury. It's a squad game you fool, rotation is essential. His beloved Chelsea have about 3 players for every position.

Because he clearly wasn't our first choice, I think we probably had to find an alternative which was him.
I don't even think we had a first choice.
Did you read or hear who our first choice was?

Can't remember seeing anything.

Surely Douglas Luiz wasn't number 1? Injury prone and not match fit.

Don't get me wrong a fully fit Luiz would have been a great addition but we haven't got the time to wait for him to get up to speed.

I thought Koulibaly was too old for the price being asked and Kounde was too short.
I don't even remember my preferred candidate now but it wasn't Dias.
Anyone who had watched the preceding AFCON would have known he was a lumbering cart horse, who needed to be put down......those who watched it, and wanted him, probably realised football really isn't for them ;)

If Merson is talking him down it gives me more confidence he'll be a success.

Why would the bbc say we need to wait until after Porto finish their game tonight? Surely the staff on their side working on this aren’t directly involved in what’s happening on the pitch right now!

Would be pretty shit if we missed the deadline though. Get on with it lads!

Is this gonna be Mido 2.0? lol
No it's done, it's not official yet because we don't work like that, it'll be announced tomorrow, but the post from Fabrizio is "leaked" to show it.

Also Porto are currently playing (without him in the squad), we wouldn't announce during a game out of respect.

15 minutes left in the Porto game… .. announcement after full time?

Of course it is, but there are occasions when an offer comes along which helps on that regard.

Just having a laugh, it would be typical City though : )

If it's done (as indicated) it can be announced tomorrow or Wednesday so long as the paper work is done, does it actually matter ? We don't play until Saturday.
Expect them to confirm it’s completed, not the shite vids etc
