For what it's worth he doesn't really appear to be 3rd or 4th choice.
When Stones and Laporte were fit, he barely played. Clearly behind them.

Behind Laporte, yes. When Stones and Laporte were fit, he barely played. Clearly behind them.
Well thats kind of obvious when our 1st and 2nd choice are injured. For what it's worth he doesn't really appear to be 3rd or 4th choice.
Played well last night but could of cost us points.
Made a foul on Lanzini in the box, Lanzini continued and played a pass to Carroll but had he gone down I am 100% sure the ref would have given the penalty. We are lucky he didn’t go down.[/QUOTE
Personally, I didn't think it was a foul, or whether he even touched him
Spot on DaxOh my Goodness! The fake compliments for players we don't like. The "He did well but" argument :(
So your claim is that if Lanzini had cheated and tried to hang is trail leg and fallen over, they'd have gotten a pen and he'd have cost us points? Oh brother!
Damn bro, you trying too hard. Otamendi had a very good game. Period!!! And he did not nor could not have cost us points. Had Silva 2ice, Gundogan, Sterling and Aguero all scored their chances, we'd have scored 5 and Otamendi almost fouling Lanzini, even if he had done it 3 times still wouldn't have cost us points.
But since you are just fantasizing, I'm sure you were on the Silva, Sterling, and Aguero thread pointing out how they could have cost us points too, right? I'll check.

The complements are not fake, they’re real just like the criticism. You’re comparing attackers and defenders lol. You do realize defenders and keepers are judged on their mistakes much more so than attackers. Ederson may play a great game and then have a blunder causing us to drop points. Then in the end this performance is considered bad. Same with defenders. This can apply to attackers too if they miss a sitter like Mahrez did but we still won the game so it’s brushed over. Sterling missed a sitter at Burnley and we dropped points, it’ll never be forgotten.
Otamendi is good defender that had an extraordinary season last year, he is error prone but as 3rd/4th choice there’s none better. We can’t except to have a world class defender so far down the pecking order. That’s my assessment, don’t love him, don’t hate him either.
Im with you on this. Great player with a great attitude to defendingHad a good game last night would be first choice elsewhere lucky to have him, a great tackler and good in the air. Hope we keep him happy and he stays next season
AgreedFor my money the best out and out defender we have - rock solid, reliable and a real leader. Underrated passer too.
