Nicola Sturgeon

She openly discriminates against English Students wanting to study in Scotland by charging Tuition fees, whilst not charging Students from any other nation in the EU ?
No, the EU agreed reciprocal arrangements for Scots, England refused a reciprocal arrangement.Simply that. As an English person living in Scotland I nor my children have been discriminated against once.

I think she speaks quite well, but her political stance is often full of hypocrisy and some of her policies are openly anti English. She is happy to take the extra money from the UK via the Barnett Formula but by the same token she wants independence. She wants to remain in the EU but not part of the UK despite the UK being Scotland's biggest trading partner and biggest contributor to the Scottish Economy? She wants all the benefits of being in the UK if she gets independence but none of the debt? She openly discriminates against English Students wanting to study in Scotland by charging Tuition fees, whilst not charging Students from any other nation in the EU ? She wants a say on all English only matters in Westminster but will clearly reject any say by English MPs on Scottish matters. She often gets an easy ride in the UK media, can you imagine the uproar if Johnson were to introduce such blatantly discriminatory policies against Scottish citizens in England? The fact is she is the biggest hypocrite in UK politics but rarely gets called out on it?

Re the student issue, vote in a government that will allow free tuition in england (free obviously meaning paid for in other ways by government initiatives before folk misinterpret it just like the NHS again).

Once this happens, English students will have access to free tuition, in England, Scotland, and everywhere else in the EU where this is policy.

This is Not discrimination, it is part of a reciprocal arrangement and includes all three other UK nations, apart from england, who chose a different policy.

There are no truly 'english only' matters at Westminster, although i do agree with the point on this principle. The SNP have often abstained from voting on matters that they deemed not affecting Scotland, which, when it afects overall budgets doesnt happen as often.

Regarding rhe Barnett formula, debt, etc. it is all currently shared wealth and debt, and reflects the contribution as well, which is tied to the currency too. It isnt clean cut, sure, but being deliberately selective is the same hypocrisy you speak of.

I agree however that she speaks incredibly well, and i'l add that she is a great politician, sends generally positive inclusive messages aimed at all (even the english in england which she doesnt need to speak for or get any voting support from, when it affects the Union of which we are all currently a part of).

well done mate excellent post. Although not a Nat, I have had a couple of goes at educating on here that Sturgeon is a very capable politician but some folks seem to have a blind spot with her. Your post was nicely balanced.

Great post.

Can't believe that there are English people who would happily prop up and further the causes of the SNP when they've repeatedly stated they'll refuse to pay back any portion of the UK debt despite consistently running the highest deficit of any nation in the UK (and Europe for that matter). They're a cancer on the country.

You don't see the v signs when your back it turned:-)

My understanding regarding tuition fees was that if you offer it to your own people under EU law you have to offer the same benefit to any person from the EU. However the SNP Government unilaterally decided to block English students as they simply feared having too many English applicants. Its a Scottish SNP decision not a UK or English decision and is blatant discrimination.

I could also add that as a person living in the north of England, an area that gets the least funding of anywhere in the UK, it really is tiring hearing her endlessly bleating on about how hard done by Scotland is by the Tories and UK governments in general, when quite clearly that isn't the case!
Stop Moaning Nicola!

Your first paragraph, is complete nonsense.
Even all EU countries don't have the same agreements, some pay no tuition fees here, some pay only a third, some the full whack, depending on the individual agreement with that country. Nothing to do with deliberately excluding the english. I dont think you appreciate how many there are in Scotland, most of the rural countryside is predominantly English people that have settled, or retired from down south etc etc.

Your second i can sympathise with, maybe canvas an SNP northern england branch, for someone to 'moan' on your behalf as she/they do for their voters here.

There is a cohort called something like 'EnglishForYes', who as the name suggests are english resident in scotland regularly campaigning and for scottish independence. Maybe set up your equivalent, or join them or whatever.

Not my experience when I lived in Scotland. My wife was refused numerous jobs despite being well qualified and experienced, and when she applied for a college course she was told that the course was full despite us subsequently finding out they were struggling to fill all the places.

My kids were also regularly abused for being English
