Nicola Sturgeon

Her cost for a partnership with Labour is adding 20% to NHS funding, on top of what Labour are offering.

Fucking marvellous economics.

Total charlatan.

I don't get what you are unhappy about. Recently you were complaining that she was a single issue politician with just the referendum to pursue.

She has diversified, when 'naming her price' for a coalition, scrapping trident, increased spending on NHS, ending cuts, zero tolerance of prejudice (antisemitism racism etc). She is really targeting the Scottish audience abd voters by nameing all the things they care for, in her 'price' offer.

Now i obviously acknowledge that they are all hollow soundbites, that she'll never really have to back up, as a) no way is the labour party going to win enough to even have a chance at going into a coalition/minority gov with her support (imho), and b) even if they did, wouldn't go into one. So it really is a capaigning strategy, nothing else. I mean, she can't exactly stand on a 'if i become PM' pledge like Swinson, Boris & Corbyn.

They’re a party with one single end goal and that’s Scottish independence. Obviously when they are in government, which they technically are now, they’ll have to have domestic policies to run the country but the fact remains that they are a single issue party and a populist one at that - notice how she’s all about sound bites and the independence policy itself lacks a frightening amount of detail.

Now on your second point, there is a chance that Labour could go into a coalition with her, in the event of a hung parliament. This is her price for doing so and considering the IFS have said Labour’s manifesto isn’t doable, whacking another 20% onto the NHS spending isn’t good economics, in fact it’s more ludicrous than McDonnell’s policy as Chancellor and the bloke’s a Marxist.

I’ve come to the conclusion that you’ll defend her no matter what. You’ll obviously refute that by saying I’ll attack her know matter what, but the point still remains that you will.

I actually think she’s an effective politician. She’s got a knack of having a terrible plan and lying about it whilst convincing millions of people both north and south of the border that she’s honest and has a good plan. That’s a skill few people have.

If anyone thinks Corbyn had a car-crash interview with Andrew Neill (which he did) then the interview with Sturgeon is another level.

It's not great if you like political theory and soundbites but if you like to see a single politician/party's main argument being systematically and logically taken apart then watch it.

Just on that bit she isn’t in opposition convincing people she has a good plan. She’s governed now for 5 years ( the SNP for 12 years),and will likely stay in power at the next Holyrood election in a system designed to prevent one party winning majorities ( though at the time that was because they thought Labour would dominate). So either Scots are very gullible or actually they are fairly happy with how her and the SNP plan is working for Scotland.

1st paragraph. my first one was tongue in cheek, i wasnt actually challenging you on it.
disagree however that their end goal is independence.

2nd paragraph, dont disagree, my point was, i think it highly unlikely, she prob does too, hence she can make those claims.

3rd para, did you really take my last post (note not all my posts) as defending her?

4th para, agree she's a good politician, but with none of the rest.

You know quite clearly I’m on about independence but she has been below par on domestic issues, quite clearly as it’s the worst performing member of our union, despite the greater budget per head.

This is the con.

People can vote for what they want when something is put in front of them but I’ve absolutely no idea why many Scottish people vote for the SNP.

Corbyn is getting my vote this time around because I want to vote for something different, he'll be running around getting his legs slapped for 2 years and his own party will throw him out IMO. Sturgeon will be the same, if she wins independence for Scotland and it isn't plain sailing she'll be ousted by her own countrymen and women.
I've stated before if I was Scotsman I'd be wanting her to be in my corner but she was annihilated on the AN show particularly regarding the currency and Scotlands deficit.
