Nicola Sturgeon

An unfortunate name but we are not nationalists in the xenophobia form. Most people voting for it now are left wing ex Labour like myself. The name is a **** though. We want migration because we desperately need it. We want to stay in the aEu. We tax our richest more. We want free health and education.W want to lead the world in fighting climate change. We aren't right wing.

It’s still a form of nationalism and it’s got so far because of the anti English sentiment within the ranks.

Even if Scottish independence happens and is a success, and that’s a big whopping if, the social cohesion between those south of the inevitable border and north of it, will be at a low not seen for centuries.

I’m not saying there will be war, obviously not, or even necessarily violence, but the animosity that only stretches to banter and sports at the moment, will ramp up ten fold.

As I say, nationalism always leads to hatred.

It's miles off.For a start they want FOM and more immigration. Alot of those that I know are planning to vote for them are English.

If you’re English and voting for the SNP then, whilst you can vote for whoever you wish, you’re a very confused individual, or you want English independence from the rest of the UK.

No unionist should ever vote for that outfit.

And nationalism doesn’t mean you’re automatically taking on every characteristic of nationalism as policy, it can come in other forms, such as this one.

Absolutely untrue that it has got as far as it has because of 'anti-english'-ism. That is such presumptious bollocks. There is some, amongst some, but it isnt the norm nor the drive.

The animosity is already at that stretch imho, as is the social cohesion. Have you not read any of the mood on here (including your own at times if i may say so)?

It is also very heavy in the one direction, and despite the name, it ain't the nationalists setting that tone.

You would be hugely surprised how many confused English folk there are up here. Some more pro-indy than many Scots.

It really is the case that the anti English feeling is very prominent and I was having a chat with my Glaswegian mate at the weekend who was telling me about some social circles he operates in gearing up for Indyref2 and spouting this rhetoric.

It’s an inconvenient truth that the SNP are nationalists and essentially want a similar goal goal to UKIP.

Of course the SNP aren’t as bigoted but they still are.

You’re basing that on being on an English football forum? I’m guessing going on a Celtic forum would produce the opposite effect and then some.

Most on here are pissed off with the Scottish independence movement. It’s a fucking delusional and wreckless project that will ruin millions of lives and break up the county.

What do you expect us to do, sigh and move on?

No one stays in power so long if they aren't getting it right. The right wing media have done a job on her as is evidenced by some of the replies. We go to the he ballot box again soon and we will see how the people who have her vote. That should tell you something, but no doubt it won't for some.

That is the only thing that geys me.

The SNP are niether left wing or social democratic.

I can undersrand why those wanting independance vote for them, but ex -labour saying it's because of their left wing slant are talking through their arse in my opinion.

Labour failed scotland after devolution as they failed a lot of places in the old industrial heartlands by not investing, and so were punished by the electorate.

Choosing the SNP though as a similar caring alternative is nonsense though

You seem to base it all on the word of this friend, and seeing a rabbie burns poem on a wall in a pub in edinburgh?

I can safely say, to claim that it is the norm, or even a significant part, is nonsense. It really is, i say that honestly. And i've been both balanced and critical on the matter before so take from that what you want.

I base the 'cohesion' comment on a lot more than this forum, that was just the first example i could think to point to. It is unfortunate, but it is the case.

It's left wing. Believe me. If it wasn't I would vote Green.
