Nicolas Gaitan

Dzeko is hardly a guaranteed 20-25 goal a season striker this is the first season to my knowledge he has got over 20 for us! Don't judge a striker on his last game cause it is impossible to compare if Negredo started we could have score more or earlier you never know. Gaitan is a good player and would be a very decent squad player but think he would cost a fortune.
Not sure he would, last year the talk was about £20m. He's had a great season, but he's gotten a year older, so I'd be surprised if it wasn't in the £20-25m range, which is pretty reasonable for a creative player in their prime. If it was more than that I wouldn't go for it, he'd be back up/rotation for Nasri so you don't want to be spending a fortune

I was impressed with what I saw of him tonight against Chelsea.

He's versatile. On the right, he can both cut inside and drive forward.

He was playing on the left tonight and whipped in a lot of good crosses. They had a lot of variety in them as well. Lofted crosses, pacey crosses, and low driven crosses.

He set up a free header, and almost forced an own goal from Ashley Cole when he drilled a low cross along the 6 yard box.

He also beat several players but that wasn't his job tonight.

He looks the part as someone that can provide us with the quality we're lacking from wide areas but also play a squad role when required.

Imo oponion the rags will sign him and hope he will turn out to be Modric, Gaitan is a wide player, is he as good as Nani, Valencia or Ashley Young? imho, NO! is he good enough to play as a Central Midfielder in a 4(Rooney and one of little penis and Nasharks friends will partner granny shagger) Assuming it is one of Anderson, Carrick or Zidane, no NDJ,Yaya, Milner, Barry are better, even Parker,Sandro, Gerrard, Song,Ramieres, Lampard,Essien, Fellaini I could go on would do a better job in a rag 4-4-2.

I must have pissed when I wrote this.

We won't be paying 45m for him, that's for sure. That's his release clause, doesn't mean we can't get him for £15m/£20m which seems a far more realistic price for a player like Gaitan. Having said that, I did say the same thing about Fernandinho.

Prefer Isco he can play on the left but also operate as the 2nd striker a great little player who would really well in the Prem. Think Kolarov and Dzeko could be off so I like the sound of Ashley Cole to replace Kolarov plus he's English so will help our Quota issue to, come to think of it John Terry to as both will be on frees

Juan Iturbe is younger, faster and better player.
Two out of three aint bad. As for better player, I know you love him, but Iturbe couldn't even get in Porto's team, whereas Gaitan has been one the best attacking players in the league. I don't think there is much of a case to be made for Iturbe being a better player at the moment, maybe potentially, but not at the moment

We need pace - one thing Isco doesn't have ... I dont really think we need an Isco type player when we have Silva and Nasri. Plus last few games I watched Isco he was average!!

The problem with Reus is that his buy out clause doesn't kick in until next summer which is around 35m if I remember correctly, at the moment though Dortmund could put any price on his head and could easily fetch 50-60m if someone really wanted him.

Dzeko - Reus swap deal :-)

Posted on the 9th May after a Dzeko double puts us in contention to win the league... again!

I will never understand the mentality of certain City fans.

In fact it reminds me of all the slating The Goat got when Anelka and Fowler were available. No matter what Goater did, the other strikers were better and it was time to sell The Goat.

Yet, it was The Goat that always came up good, for us, when we needed it. A vital goal or two, here and there, to keep us going forward. Dzeko is this generation's Goater.

Players may change, but the fans stay the same...

Don't want to derail the thread, but wanted someone to pop their head up to agree. Eerily similar. Misses sitters, not always pretty, supporters calling for his head and wanting a world-class finisher in his place. Yet he just keeps scoring critical goals for us left and right, regardless of how flukey they might be or how many more he should've scored. I'll take the bird in hand, for my part.

As for the original thread, can't say I know Gaitan from Adam. I like the fullbacks overlapping, so in my head I'd prefer an Isco type (or Isco himself, despite being spurned). Also not completely in a rush to fill the spot though. Without betting on a full bill of a health, I really want to see Jovetic linking up with Kolarov out there with some regularity. Fully open to the idea that I'm missing something special in Gaitan though
