I´m Portuguese and a Benfica/City fan and here the press is talking that City want´s to steel him from United.
I think he fits in Premiere League, there is more space to play.

Is he better than Di Maria ?
In my opinion they are both very good , but different.
Di Maria is more electric, agressive!! Maybe he is faster, i really don´t know.
Nicolas Gaitan for me has more pure technique. Like i said before, he has a style like David Silva, with slightly diferences.
if he grow up mentally, he can become a lot better than Di Maria, in my opinion.
But i have to say, Di Maria is doing great in Real Madrid.... he assists like no winger in the world.
Benfica forms great players... Players like Coentrão and David Luiz are not being use properly by their teams.
I Just don´t want Rodrigo Machado being sold.. He is superstar material. He has more potencial than Di Maria and Gaitan together. But, he is a Striker, not a offensive midfielder or a winger.

I'm portuguese too, but with a difference, i support Sporting Clube de Portugal, you may know it as Sporting Lisbon.
About Gaitan, yes, he's a good player, but it's far away from the level of David Silva. Silva plays as a 10, if you know what i mean.. Gaitan, plays more on the wing. Other thing, there's no one like Silva.
To be honest, City shouldn't buy it, you have Weiss on loan, wich is a very good player, younger too, with lot's of future and the benfica chairman, in my opinion, is asking too much for a player like him.
As a City supporter too, the club needs to stop spending so much and look more to the inside.. academy, other younger players that doesn't have any hype, etc. I mean, some players with hype are good, but the problem is that the chairmans take an advantage of that and put a price a lot bigger than the real value. And when we're talking about the interest of Man City in some player, it gets worst, it's something like this "they have lots of money, so, let's raise the show". This is my view of things, some agree, some not.

He is playing on the wing, but he comes to inside like david silva too... they have similar styles.
David Silva began his career playing on the wing too... and in his nacional team he has to play in that position too, because is the only available place for him!!!
You can read all over the web, other opinions like mine.... especially in forums who are interested in him.
About City, ya, City already has a tremendous squad. Does not need any changes.. maybe the coach :X.
