Nicolas Otamendi - 2016/17 performances

I thought his positioning was poor for the second goal, needed to come across more centrally and cover when Stones was out of position.

Otamendi is really talented, but he's brainless. If he was next to Kompany every week with Kompany organising him, he'd be great. But next to a 21 year old centre back - oh dear. We need Van Dijk, Otamendi would benefit a lot playing beside him, as would Stones when he plays.
 
I've watched him since he came to the club, at times I've loved his uncompromising attitude to the game but I'm now ready to pass my judgement.... he isn't suited to us, the way City play it out from the back means his distribution and decision making isn't good enough. He is often ' the wrong side' of attackers and he spends so much time on his arse rather than his feet. Not suited to us or the premier league
 
But his stats everyone!?

Yeah, do his stats show he played 2 of their players onside in the goals? Do they fuck.

Brainless on a day where he would have otherwise looked okay. Sagna is our best defender, shove your stats up your arse unless they're used in context and not the blinkered "he's amazing because he wins headers".
 
No one claiming he's one of the worlds best defenders today then? Maybe the nurse made sure they took their pills.
 
Really haven't taken to him at all. I think it's the play acting - it's gets right on my fucking tits. Ok, he makes mistakes defensively, but he's in good company there, it's definitely the rolling around.
 
He got a good stats score on whoscored.com today anyway :)
