Nigel De Jong a disservice

Nigel De Jong is more important to us that Yaya Toure. There I said it

NDJ probably shades it defensively. In all other areas of the game (passing, dynamism, vision, scoring goals and generally scaring the shit out of the opposition) Yaya is far superior.

Mark is that you?

NDJ isn't in the team to score the goals, provide 70 yard runs and then an assist on the end of it. He's there to simply break up the play and pass the ball on 10 or 15 yards.

I'm not slating Yaya, I'm just saying in my opinion, when NDJ isn't in the team then we miss him massively

Yes, but I think you're far more likely to find another De Jong than you are another Yaya Toure. Unfortunately for De Jong that diminishes his worth somewhat.

Who out of interest is better that NDJ in his position?

Better is a tough thing to argue. Javi Martinez could eventually eclipse him and isn't far off now. (Please note this isn't a "get rid" message from me. I love De Jong.)

Martinez is more like Yaya than De Jong even though his defensive skills are good and he probably could play a purely holding role if asked. Players more like De Jong I would say are Sandro, Inler, Gustavo, Mascherano, and M'Vila. Sandro has good potential (if Spurs actually play him, he is on the bench at the moment) and M'Vila is really starting to shine which will lead to probably Arsenal signing him and replacing the mediocre Song. I think we would go for Sandro if De Jong were to leave as he was allegedly a top target for us this summer and Redknapp is preferring t'riffic Lahndahn lad Scotty Parker to him even though Sandro looked excellent last season and starts for Brazil (and scored the other day).

I love nigel de jong, him, vinnie, micah and joe show a real genuine love for our club. Oh, and theyre all class
