According to reports in Italy, AC Milan are trying to arrange a deal to sign Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong. Reports claim Milan will offer €7million (£5.5m), while Netherlands international De Jong is seeking a yearly salary of €5million (£4m).

As long has we have a replacement sorted, £5.5m won't be bad business.

That's 77k a week. I'd keep him here if he'd accept that.

Milan getting a good player cheap here. Hope to God Inter get him. Much prefer them over AC Milan.

Seems crazy not to to me. He is solid, been part of 2 very succesful seasons, is useful in Europe an hugely experienced. He also seems like a well liked member of the squad. Are we quibbling over £10k a week or so?

De Jong over 4 years would prob cost £16m in wages. De rossi would cost around £70m with fee an wages. I know we ain't getting him but still seems odd to me.

I can't see this happening unless a better replacement has already been secured.

I know Mancini plays some mind games on transfers and a week is a long time in football but he has stated he is not for sale and won't be leaving.

Nothing to be gained in loaning him out and we lose a defensive midfielder.

Probably reporting net wages.

"AC Milan are closing in on signing Manchester City’s Nigel De Jong for a reported €7 million. Calciomercato.com reports that Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani sees the Dutch international as an ideal replacement for the departed Mark van Bommel.

So we sell dejong for 5.5mil and sign javi garcia for 25mil? Completely gutted if de jong leaves would rather let him walk next year then sell him for that amount! But would much prefer him to sign a 5 year deal tomoro!

Surely only Martinez, DDR or Garcia would fit the bill if NDJ did go?!

Seems a strange decision to me, I think Rodwell is a good signing but not in the same class as Nige??

I don't believe most of what appears either in this transfer forum or SSN. Especially, I don't believe the rubbish printed by Italian 'Football' papers after what we've seen over the years. They have no credibility at all.
It's bollox. NDJ ain't leaving in this window.

We'd never sell De Jong unless we have an agreement in place to sign a high quality midfielder first. After all we only sold Johnson when we... oh.

selling NDJ for £5.5m and buying a repacement for £30m more!!!- does that make sense and more the point, are they that much better!!??.....

Nor does letting him walk for a free in January and we would st have to find a replacement and that replacement is still likely to cost big bucks

Do we let all our players fuck off on afree of corse not

Potentially the nghmare scenari is Silva next year if he reuses to sign a new contract

DJ (sadly) must be sold this season unless he sign s up again and we must get a replacement - we aint a charity

I'm sure there is. Otherwise the midfield would be weaker than last season. I think it's clear that Mancini is trying to bring in a versatile midfielder. Someone who can play both midfield and in defence, (Martinez/De Rossi/Garcia) are all tall combative midfielders who can do that. Unfortunately for DJ, he is short and not very mobile and doesn't suit that role.
