Jesus Christ. No need to do all the research, I said Ill take your word.

My dislike for NIKE and love of MCFC must have led me to turn a blind eye. It irritated me when they bought Umbro, now I can't help but wonder when Ill be able to stomach buying another kit.

Gave me something to do.

Not a big fan of Nike kits but I really like their boots, find them the most comfortable and really like the designs even if the colour schemes are sometimes unusual shall we say.
I actually like their products, it's their unrelenting drive to corner every market of every sport that disgusts me.

Fair enough, on the flip side though they could be admired for their flexibility and willingness to develop products for other sports, effectively stepping out of their comfort zone.

What is their comfort zone?

I think the good work they do comes from their r&d, like the recycled polyester they developed from water bottles. They recycle @18million of those a year to create that material and use it on something like 80% of all their garments.

Then there's their dominance in the marketplace. This allows them to release lower quality products that have virtually no competition.

I think we will all be very disappointed with whatever they bring out.

But my opinions might be due to a personal grudge.

I think they started in athletics, specifically footwear?

I'm a bit worried about what they'll do with our kit, got a fear we'll end up with a generic design but in sky blue which will be awful considering how much effort and detail Umbro have put into them since 2009.

Yeah, they started as BLue Ribbon AThletic, I believe, distributing ONitsuka TIger shoes out of a minibus around the amatier track circuit. Track was their root, collegiate sports saved their ass, particularly basketball, enter Michael Jordan who preferred ADidas but signed with NIke because they offered more money, and the rest is history.

I'm willing to bet that all of the sweet little details Umbro took pride in will be missing from Nikes final product. And that will be down to manufacturing costs. Highly functional and cheaply made, but sold at a premium. Nbigger profits all around.

If it helps with FFPR, then I guess it's a good thing.

The man knows his stuff.

I hate Nike.
I loathe them.

Their boss Phil Knight donates hundreds of millions to my hated rival College (university) Am. football team: The Oregon Ducks.

Then Nike dresses their team in the most outrageously stupid looking uniforms to grace gawds green earth.

They also do the Uniforms for my team god damn it.

I still don't understand why all Y'all pronounce the name Nike as 'nike' and not 'nike-E' like all 'mericans (such as Phil Knight--boss of Nike) do.

We're not Krauts we're 'Mericun--and whatever all y'all are . Adeedus is how we say it and how all y'all say it.

We fought a war for this shit, amirite?

Oh you're just jealous the kids love those uniforms and are using it as one more reason to come play for us!

Should help us sell more kits in America. But they will have to prove it first.

And Also: GO DUCKS! 2012 ROSE BOWL CHAMPIONS! WOOHOOO!

I've grown up for 35 almost 36 years at Oregon when we were crap and had to play OSU in Toilet Bowls. Ive seen this University crawl from the ground up from being punching bags for USC and the Fuskies to something Oregonians could be proud of. We don't have any sports to be proud of down here (Trailblazers, Timbers, etc) all we have are our beloved ducks. And if that pisses you off because Phil Knight donates a bunch of money to his alma mater I don't give a hoot. As a Man City fan, do you get pissed when UAE gives us a bunch of cash to get players. What's wrong with having nice facilities. You sound like a Huskys fan. I hate those mongrels more than life itself.

But of course Man City are a professional team and not subject to NCAA rules. They don't run a university like Nike does in Eugene.

And there's no need for the 'husky fan' slur. They haven't been relevant for damn near a decade. Fuck them.

The uniforms are ridiculous though, and why recruiting violations were necessary given the wonderful facilities bought by Phil Knight boggles the mind. But no doubt nothing will come of it given the money involved.

Good. I respect you're opinions. And you're a fellow City fan.
It's all cool.

Maybe someday we'll see each other in our City gear and say a "C'mon City" instead of the usual Beav's and Ducks acidity. How bout them goddamn fucking TrailBlazers?

wtf? 35 years.

Umbro have made some class kits most notably this seasons and the 09/10 kit, but Nike make some class kits but also make the generic templates. I'd like to think we don't end up with some crappy template.

I actualy work part time at Nike so get 40% off, although the Nike store in Manchester has been selling City shirts in there for two seasons now, so always get kitted out with my City gear on the cheap.

Would people prefer reverting back to Reebok, or maybe Le Coq Sportif?
