Nirvana

Have a read of "Heavier than Heavan" Kurts biography by Charles R Cross (I think)
If the final page doesn't bring a tear to your eye nothing much will!

Great thread.

I agree about them being underrated. Outside of the press i think people think of them as just a kids band who only ever got popular because Kurt killed himself.

I Dont think Nirvana/Kurt wrote one bad song.

I was reading this on my way to work and I read the last page in Picadilly gardens after getting of a 192 bus. It definitley bought a tear to my eye, I must have looked like a right Idiot.

'Grunge' for the lazy who never look further than the pop charts. Kurt was a fake cover act. Look further 'kids'

Nirvana were OK but hardly crucial to the real music lovers.

My personal favourite ^

Immense Band Nirvana

i was helping a mate do his paper round. i was actually singing one of their tracks whilst having a scan of the paper. turned a page to see the news that kurt had shot himself. i was on eccles new road at the time and will never forget how spooky it was.

I was supposed to see them at the G-Mex in April or may 94. I had one of the last standing tickets available. it cost 15 notes. He kills himself and I get a refund on my ticket not knowing that it was worth 250 quid. On the way home from the refund my car exhaust falls off. Gutted. One of the worst days of my life.

I kept my ticket..

kept mine too

got to see them at the reading festival a couple of years before, excellent gig

Kurt Cobain turned 46 today, I'm not really into that grunge music but I love Nirvana.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.

I heard Nevermind in 1994 just after Kurt died and it changed my musical tastes forever. I'd liked mainstream pop and rock but by 1995 I had AIC, Soundgarden, Metallica albums in my collection. A great band.
