'No History...'

History is history and by definition is a story and football is much more than just winning things......and we should do well to remember that in our drive for glory and not end up arseholes klike some we could mention.

The last "All English" team to win the League and the FA Cup thats history surely

While the rags were ruining football by importing non-English star players by offering them higher wages..........................

Our history is as proud as any other teams.

No history - bullsh!t

No recent success admittedly but we have a history of winning things. Even the clubs who have never actually won anything of worth have a history - I can understand clubs who have won recently using the 'no history' jibe (although they are wrong) but to get the smaller clubs (support, turnover, attendance etc) clubs using this just confuses me.

Still, I've laughed at them when we had no money for the 'no history' comments and will laugh at them for the 'you bought it' comments now - assuming we win anything that is.

Spot on - I've had this one thrown at me by a rag relative recently. As you say, they cite "no history" as having no success. My response is to point out that although we have no recent "history" - we do have it. We've won league championships (some teams never have), FA and league cups and have also won in Europe - not all teams can say that either. It usually shuts him up.

History is trivial. It is all about the present.

How do you start a thread? I wanted to start one asking people who they think will be next seasons top four?

we also had the record for winning the old division 2 more than any other club..well its history of sorts.

But all the history in the world means diddley squat as soon as the following season kicks off.

All of that!

The next time some idiot tells you that we've got no history, ignore it.
If you can't ignore it, tell him: 'So what? Ye've got no future...'

We won a major trophy (FA Cup) before you know who had ever won anything significant.
That success was 51 years before Chelsea won a major trophy and 26 before Arsenal.

We won a major Euro trophy before many so called giants, including Juventus (Platini's old team!), Arsenal and Liverpool.

Of course history is all in the past.

I read recently that United have spent only 4 more years in the top division than we have, and when you consider the ups and downs we had over the last decade or two, it's an interesting statistic.

Most supporters don't know the history of their own club, let alone anyone else's. It's a specialist subject.

This kind of crap is the verbal equivalent of looking around for a weapon to use in a fight. You pick up the first thing that comes to hand. Anyone who thinks City haven't any history is an ignorant moron. In the 1930s United were a joke club, and that's just for starters...
