I've said it before and I'll say it again.

There are certain people at the club who have lost sight of this being a football club with fans and not just a company with customers.

This person/persons have to justify their position by maximising revenues at all cost.

If that means fairness towards fans or ensuring that, going forward, long term fans get as much of a chance of being part of 'the matchday experience' as cash rich Johnny-come-lately then, whilst they may regret it slightly, they are not bothered.

Those considerations take a massive back seat because their position requires them to wring out every last fecking penny out of everyone in order for them to justify themselves.

The UEFA rules excuse is just that, an excuse, but every decision made on tickets and pricing over the last two years points towards the person making the decisions being more cut throat than any such decision maker in the history of the club and only, regardless of impact on fans, concerned with profit margin.

The singular bad point since the take over, although I suspect that these decisions are more driven from people 'here' justifying their 'business expertise' than in Abu Dhabi.

so a match ticket for tonights game being 1p is cut throat is it.

and the rest of that negative post relates to every club in the country.... its called the real world..... and for city to sell tickets for £5 for tonights game is a great gesture.... the minority who paid £25 (also a good price) are pissed off because they bought at the wrong time.

What pisses me off is the fact that City do great things like the ticket offers and the community gestures, the free tickets to soldiers, the charity work and the £5 kids ticket offer for Prem football and much more..... yet you choose to forget all that and focus on a moan by a minority of fans that bought at the wrong time.

its that minority you speak of that go week in week out

We have no chance in getting to the game tonight, tried digging the car out but it's just slipping and sliding everywhere on the lane. No cars have been up this way at all today.
Was only 1p for the ticket and we went to the other two so no financial loss, for us the pricing worked.
Tbh I think I would be a bit pissed off if I'd of bought 2 tickets for this for over £40 then the next day they were both £10.
Some people always lose out, just the way of the World.

Well that is hardly the clubs fault. You could have bought the 3 for 2 deal for £50 and gambled on going to atleast 2 of the 3 games. You would have been £20 down if you could attend one, £10 up if you attended 2 or £40 up if you attended all 3.

It was your choice to wait.

yes another cold business like response. my choice to buy each ticket 2/3 weeks before each match because i didnt want to pay for a match and not be able to attend because i have nobody to look after my 2 year old daughter. yes stupid me for giving city £90 of my hard earned for 3 cup games. and no i don mind doing that even though people got the 2 for 3 as i knew about that scheme, accepted it and made a choice.

the £5 thing is totally different imo

Sorry if it sounds cold but it was a business decision by the club due to poor sales. I wish we had sell outs at whatever price for each game.

The club in all reality didn't drop the price to make fans better off. They did so as all 3 tiers are open, are fully staffed and costs a fortune to run. Letting some in for £5 a pop, plus food and drink enables the club to earn some extra money. Refunding the difference would negate any extra revenue that the deal would bring in. If they were to refund the difference, there would have been no point in the lower prices.

The more the merrier in the ground I say as I hate sitting in a 48k stadium with 20k in it.

It is a business at the end of the day and we are not forced to attend whether it feels like we are or not.

-- Wed Dec 01, 2010 5:14 pm --

Not really, surely the ones that ALWAYS attend will have gone for the 3 for 2 offer as they knew they would be going. They will have paid 1p.

No bob, because the majority of those that go "week in week out" would have taken up the 3-4-2 offer.

I would even guess that you are probably the only one that goes "week in week out" that didnt take up the 3-4-2 offer because your domestic circumstances did not fit with City's ticket selling timeframe.

Bet you're glad I brought your coat and gloves home from Poznan now aren't you, Matt? ;-)

If people had bought the tickets in the first place there would have been no need to lower the prices to a fiver.

Why not moan at them instead of the club?

It's getting like Price Drop TV rather than a ticket office, and I really think the club need to get their act together to avoid alienating the core fanbase in future.

When the next cup game comes around and they want £30 a ticket tonight's cheapo crowd of rags, neutrals, JCL's and tourists will be nowhere to be seen. They'll be relying on these same hardcore fans they have pissed off tonight by charging a 'loyalty premium' of £25 and I wouldn't blame any one of them for not bothering.

If you can't see why they would have a valid grievance then I hope you don't work in any customer service role I encounter in future. To use another analogy it's like the 'brand new customers only' advert. I thought the Value Season Card was a flawed idea for similar reasons but this is worse. Shocking.

So, just how many of these 'loyal hardcore fans' will boycott the next cup game when the tickets sold are 'normal' price ? (Hint : it will not be that many). Your analogy of 'brand new customer only' is partly correct, City want new fans/followers. Ever seen the adverts from Sky where NEW customers get 6 months movies for free ? and have you ever heard of just ONE current customer who says he wants 6 months of movies for free, otherwise he's canceling his contract ? Nah .....

I applaud, understand and sympathize with all those who feel a refund is warranted, but it is they that just don't get it, IT'S A BUSINESS, END OF !
