Nobody giving Sunderland credit??

Is Downing really that bad?? You're not the only Villa fan I've heard say that but I've understood why. Always seemed a decent enough player to me. But I bet you wished you signed Adam Johnson instead hey?!
To be fair, I don't wish we'd signed either at the moment.

Downing is awful when the going gets tough.

I'd rather we'd signed a striker for the £12m we spent.

Sunderlands power and pace is what undid us. Our softly softly approach is only going to work against teams that dont shut up shop at the back. On days like yesterday we need to open them up wide.

Why is no one actually puttig our loss possibly down to the fact Sunderland actually provided a hard test and actually plaed very well. From the back of their line to to the front they closed us odwn pretty quickly and didn't really give is time on the ball, that was shown by the fact that Adam Johnson and Milner had pretty poor games, due to the fact keiran Richardson and malbranque were hanging around like a bad smell. We didn't play awful but our limited chances and lack of fluency was down to the organization and spirit of Sunderland. I take my hat off to them, they played a good game, and the crowd were right behind them. Sunderland are a stern test and I doubt we will have many more hard games like that throughout the season. Brucey must have really revved ten up for the game today

I commend you for that post mate, cheers, nice to see that the true spirit of the game is still out there.

Yeah ok some credit where it's due, they battled hard but come on, not one of their players would even make our bench. It was clear who was the better side at the beginning but we allowed them into the game and so their confidence grew. We broke rule #1 - don't give a sucker a break. They are ordinary and will be thrashed by many sides this season.

IMO your attitude is all wrong, you say none of our players would make your bench, yet collectively our players outplayed yours today for key parts of the game. It seems to me that you're under the impression that because your squad is worth an arm and a leg then they should automatically be perceived as an outstanding team, yet this couldn't be further from the truth, just ask fans of n**castle united if you dont believe me. All of your expensive players must bond as a team and prove themselves, just as any team has to do, and as of yet I dont believe we've seen that from yourselves since the dawn of your new era under the billionaire sheik.

Not sure you did really, well done on your win though, a key 3 points for you, but it was a penalty, 4 minutes into added time, we really should have had the game won at half time though.

Good luck for the rest of the season (apart from your away game with us), and I hope your team puts the same effort in against the stretford lot, because they often don't.

Lets not go down the "history" route though eh ? Its the future that really matters most as we all know, none of us can celebrate championships before we were born.

No disrespect to sunderland, but if you want a top 4 finish. It is teams like this you have to beat. But when will Mancini understand that if you play wide men. Then you need some height in the middle. We play Tevez on his own. He is not a centre forward. He is a player who should be given a licence to roam. I know he missed a real sitter. But that has to be a 1 off. As a capt what a waste of time. He is not in a position to give out instructions & can't speak english. Mancini still has a lot to learn about english football.

It's like what Steve Bruce said after the game, Tevez wont miss one of those again, fortunately today he did and we were able to capitalise on that due to our second half performance. Fair enough, it was a penalty what won it, however I think there's a 99% chance Bent would have scored had he not been impeded by Richards.

I agree mate, I was just trying to make a point to one of your seemingly more arrogant 'fans'...

Thanks for that mate, good luck to yourselves too. I dont think you need to worry about our commitment against Man U, if you remember rightly, in last seasons fixture only a 91st minute own goal by Anton Ferdinand salvaged a point for them. :)

yes he can.

sunderland were shit first half and did naff all, second half they had 2 good spells, one for 5 minutes and another for about 2 minutes if that,

apart from that they did absolutely fuck all, joe hart had nothing to do all afternoon,

if we were still playing now sunderland wouldn't of scored, the only way they were gonna score today was from a penalty ir free-kick, never from open play.

this season we won't score bucket loads of goals, but we won't conceed many either.

if you wanna finish in the top 4, you have to be going to teams like this and coming away with points, not throwing it all away and conceeding 94 minute penalties.
