Noel Gallagher and City.

The Gallaghers were my neighbours growing up (I was number 4 Cranwell, they were 5) but I went through school with bass player Guigsy, (Chapel Street, then Burnage, the Gallaghers went to Barlow RC High). He was a proper blue, and a very good footballer and after leaving wrote a book, The Greatest Footballer You Never Saw.

I lived in Longsight (Birch Hall Lane) for near enough 10 years from '73 to' 82, and had a season ticket nearly all that time. Going by the quickest route (across Birchfields Park, up Norman Road, cross Wilmslow Rd and across Platt Fields) to the junction with Yew Tree Road (a walk I made countless times), you'd be looking at somewhere near 15 minutes to walk it.
I lived in Birchfields Avenue and it used to take me about 20 minutes. Longer for cup games as I would always detour via Wembley Grove for luck (not that it seemed to ever work that well).

For what it's worth, I don't mind him being heavily featured in all this Pep departure stuff. They have a personal relationship so it's to be expected. Applauded him at the Co-op when he came out with the CWC trophy because it's part of the larger goodbye to Pep. Thought it was obvious as well why he left the Bournemouth game a bit early, because he doesn't want to get bothered by strangers after full-time - I didn't really get the criticism there. But if we could go Maresca's first season without him being involved in kit launch campaigns or interviewing Willy Caballero then I'd consider that a big step forward for the club's media team.
It's a mutually beneficial relationship, and to be absolutely frank, we needed Oasis a billion times more than needed us for almost their entire time doing PR Stuff with the club

I once had a picture of Tommy Booth heading a ball with the Wembley Grove sign behind him as part of a publicity shot before the 69 Cup Final

You have no control over who your kids support, I have 4 kids 2 support city and 2 Utd. If I lived in London most probably one would support a London team because of their mates
If you've already integrated them into going to City games, wearing the shirt and talking City at home to them, before their mates even know what a football is, you've done your job.

I lived on the "short bit" of Birch Hall Lane. Come down Birchfields Rd from Dickenson Road, and turn right. Manchester Grammar School was at the end of the road. The park was literally 20 yards across the road from me. Hop over the chain link fence and follow the route I said earlier. Happy days.

Spot on, he was the biggest blue in the original line up. A shy but very knowledgeable guy about football. His book about Robin Friday is well worth a read.

2011/2012 season Liam advertised the best new shirt

Lighten up.
He does a decent job in all his interviews.
Same with N Pike.Gets grief for no real reason.
She’s a bit ‘CBeebies’ as a presenter her for me. Talks like she think everyone watching is either a toddler or a thick ****. That’s the reason she gets on my nerves.

I remember NG saying City fans know their labels and slagging off united fans for wearing Puma in about 1994.

Then does a god awful kit design with Puma.

He specifically said yellow puma cagoule.

I know "labels" seemed important if growing up in a poor area, but you tended to grow out of that mindset by about 13 or 14.

She did a great job on the Co-op event. That was a very tough gig in front of 19,000 people. She is an excellent presenter.

My wife lived at number 66 Cranwell Drive at the top of the cul-de-sac when I first knew her in 1979.
We bought our own house in Middleton in 1980, so she moved away before the Gallaghers became famous, and they would have only been kids/teenagers when she lived there.
We only found out about the Oasis/Cranwell Drive connection a couple of years ago.
On a side note, the wife's oldest sister used to babysit Johnny Marr(She knew him as John Maher) when both he and the wife's family lived in Ardwick before moving to Burnage in 1964.
So they have a couple of connections to famous City fans.
