A mate I had on 1979 had one of these, it looked fantastic, I haven't got a license but if I did I would get one.

Funnily enough I saw one this afternoon - a 2002 Ti in bright yellow parked in Guisborough town centre. Staring so hard drinking it in I nearly rammed the arse end of a stationary bus in front of me lol. If you go on YT a programme from the 70's called Drive In on Thames TV did a couple of great reviews on these when they were new. Careful though if you watch there are big sideburns big flares and a lot of crimplene blatantly on show

You could tell it was a luxury car back in the day because the inside was positively luxurious compared to the Hillman Imp ;)

These were from the days where car makers MADE cars not just assembled generic boxes of bits produced around the world. My first car was an Avenger - @40k miles , 6 years old, rusty and fucked. A mate had an Escort Mk2 similarly worn smooth. Lad I worked with who's Dad ran a garage as a independent BMW specialist got him one. Yes he knew what to look for, yes he had trade rates but he got Gary a 2002 that was older than our cars much higher mileage and was streets ahead in quality all round. It was obvious to us even then.
