NON-Pro cycling

Well Coast to Coast in a day completed. Some brutally steep climbs which my mind had obviously tried to forget from last years two day effort. Only got one soaking so got lucky with the weather. One of the group wanted to bale out a couple of times but stuck at it. All in all glad I completed it and its a corking challenge.

Legs feeling surprisingly good

Final stats: 10:03:18 riding time, 126.8 miles @ 12.6mph with 11,824 ft climbed
excellent work and thats some climbing !!! f*ck that springs to mind

Ha ha cheers, there were many highlights but the brightest was going over the Millennium bridge in Newcastle and blimping all the skirt out on hen party's it certainly lifted the spirits

Well done mate.
After a pretty dismal showing in a 25k "fun" race at the weekend I decided to get a bit more serious and have just ordered a Canyon Ultimate AL 9.0. Can't wait for it to arrive as the halfords Carrera I have is definitely past it's usefulness. It was fine as a transition from MTB to road and I will put it on a trainer on my balcony for the wet days but I'm ready for something a bit more upscale now.

Check out this bad boy!!

This is my baby, but I've got fulcrum 3 racing wheels on it.

That's a nice piece of kit. What kinda money does that cost in the UK? €1799 over here.

Just a little less thanks to 8% VAT in Switzerland. Only thing is they can't call them Canyon as there is already a swiss bike company called Canyon so it's called "Pure Cycling" instead. They don't put it on the bike though. Just Ultimate 9.0.

Love the Bianchi bikes. Might get one for my Italian and French Alps ride.

Just waiting back to hear from the cycle to work scheme at work.

Currently got a specialized allez sport that I got in about 2009. Cracking bike, love it!

-- Mon Jul 29, 2013 11:01 pm --

Agree with the other advice. Been using SPD pedals on all my bikes for years. You get far more from the bike using them

Also don't worry if you fall off. I have ended up in the canal falling off mine because I didn't unclip. Fallen at traffic lights and also witnessed my mate fall down a 50ft drop into a swamp because of him not clipping out. Its great fun

Very nice :-)

It is indeed. Not heard of the Canyon modes before GD but it looks a decent spec. Which Bianchi model is this Pelligrini59? Good move changing the wheels, those Shimano RS wheels are a bit fragile. I have them on my work bike [RS10] and have had a couple of snapped spokes when moving away from a standing start!
