North Stand Construction Discussion

Why aren’t new stadiums’ roofs made up entirely out of solar panels? The power could generate enough for the entire stadium. We’d never run out of chips again!
The club have planning permission to install solar panels onto the top of the eight spirals, not sure if/when that goes ahead.
The update to the Joie stadium has already happened..

Interesting but I guess that rules out further expansion to the E and CB stands?

I still don't think they will be putting a screen up this summer. It is not one big screen they put up but multiple screens to make a screen the size you want.

Mortar smears all over the brick faces. Can’t see any ties to the steels either. Looks a right shambles. I’m glad they’re not installing the roof
We’re you a bricklayer by trade by any chance ??

City have committed to being net zero by 2030, ahead of the City Council's target.

Part L of the building regs requires a reduction in carbon emissions and is generally achievable through the building fabric.

The tech on PV is evolving and I would expect City probably look at this post-development. The best panels are pretty weighty so it might be that the cable net can't actually support them on the roof of the stand.

Not too sure but it looks like the handrails have now been removed from the main spars on the roof.

Nope only me, uploading it now, should be on by midday

lol. It has to be said that you @cpoverview and @ssskies are in a league of your own and we are so lucky to have you feeding us these updates. The last redevelopment we had to make do with @jrb and his trusty camera and his stepladders!

Badly off topic. Lol!

But whilst we're on about the quality of brickwork.

House Of Social, First Street.

Now.

The brickwork is absolutely fantastic!

That looks like a baggeridge/ ibstock brick from the “county “ range but I may be wrong ? To my eye apart from the detailing it looks like built in situ ??? Whatever I agree with you it’s absolutely stunning :-)

Taken from screen shots from latest video -
Looks to be some sloppy work with spacing and making sure elements are level. Look at the very center section of the front of the new roof- the center looks to slope down to the right. Compare the three center sections. Maybe too many rags on the job.
