North Stand Construction Discussion

Meanwhile over in the USA same idea of what City are trying to do with an entertainment district

Not to burst your bubble, but that video is a $2BILLION pipe dream of a city that still owes $400M on the last upgrade ( which is what you see being demolished at the start of that video).

I live in the suburban town where the Chicago Bears just bought a racecourse complex for $197M to build their own stadium. It already has highway and rail access.

Soldier Field is currently the smallest capacity NFL Stadium in the country and is not owned by the Football Owners, so their revenues from the stadium are even less than just a capacity issue. Add in Corporate Suites, etc…and the Bears are looking to build their own “SoFi Stadium” clone (which is what you see on that video).

If Chicagoans lived in the metaverse in that video, it might be as spectacular as they have tried to make it. However, the reality will probably much more like what happened at the massive McCormick Place Convention Center…full of good intentions in a (still) bad neighborhood that never lived up to the hype.

I will say a (retractable) dome roof would be a significant improvement to any new Chicagoland stadium structure given the summer heat and winter cold.

Chicago Blue beat me to it. :-)

ATM it’s nothing more than a promotion video by Landmark Renervations to try and keep the Bears at Soldier Fields.

The redevelopment of Soldier Fields would will cost $2.2bill, if it happens?

The Bears are looking at moving to and buying the Arlington Race Track to build a new stadium and mixed used district (see the model in the video).

If the Bears stay at the redeveloped Soldier Fields, the City Council would still own the stadium. (sounds familiar)

If the Bears buy Arlington Race Track, and build a new stadium, the Bears would own the new stadium.

Watch the video for the full story.

The city of Chicago is making one last Hail Mary at keeping the Bears in the city.

Landmark Renovations released a video proposal to renovate Soldier Field to include a dome and entertainment district is showcased.

It is (even if it will never get built going off other posts) but they never ever look anything like the artists impressions in real life do they. The exception being anything built in the Middle East mind.

Lucky we are owned by Middle Eastern royalty then :-)

Peel Holdings are testament to that. Different topic.

Chicago is a mess all round. The Mayor is useless. No world cup games being played there is a travesty…

Damming the Bears are leaving downtown, it should be an iconic location for a stadium with the backdrop of the skyline/water….

Saw this on another thread on here...

Pep the manager is going to keep calling this out.....

Hopefully, is rant went to the people behind the design of the new North Stand as JRB says and he knows his stuff it needs two tier stand with the first tier being all safe standing and full of City answer to Wallburton Army and the second tier needs to be expanded with no corporate boxes and have the cheapest tickets in the ground

The first tier would also feature a capo stand as well
