North Stand Construction Discussion

One thing I have noticed about the safe standing bars on SSL1, the blue plastic covering along the safe standing bars, where fans put your hand's, has come away, split, and has been peeled off by fans. It looks messy and pretty unsightly. I’ll take some pictures before the Gtr Manchester Derby ;-) next week.
I agree, think they should have just been bare metal. The peeled plastic just looks a mess.

A small niggle that I have is with the 2 end sections of perspex on the roof, 1 end seems to go straight from the outer edge and the other one from the inner edge.

Just seen the new Everton Stadium costs £750m.
52,000 seats. Brand new stadium

The North Stand expansion is £300m.
8,000 seats. Hotel & office block.

Seems we been have paid a premuim or Everton have had a great deal
187.5m per stand in simple terms We get an extension, 401 room hotel, a commercial building and covered square for 1.6 times more Don’t think we have done too bad

The South stand ext. was reported to have cost around £80m so it appears that the costs are weighted towards the hotel/museum/office construction rather than the stadium extension.

It is difficult to compare, and it will always look lot cheaper to build a new stadium than these expansions, seat for seat, as there are far more constraints.

It also depends what the Everton one included, the cost of the land and the infrastructure around the stadium would bump it up if included. Also either could be well over budget and we may not know for a while.

The most stark comparison is the Millenium and new Wembley, not a massive difference in time but one costing 6 times more than the other for not many more seats, although the spec was very different. Like St Marys costing £32m, different spec, very basic, like most of the Pride Park, Riverside, Sunderland etc basic neo-brutalist stadiums.

Agreed 100%
I was being a bit tongue-in-cheek tbh

Why? Do you know how much it costs to fit out a hotel & offices? Plus Everton built a stadium from scratch, which is far more cost effective than having to engineer around an existing stadium.

Villa are expanding their north stand similar to us in terms of the seats expected to cost £100M planning permission just been approved

In terms of complexity not in the same ballpark. Villa’s north stand is free standing if nothing else and not connected to a roof holding up the rest of the stadium.

Yeah aware of that I’m answering someone who has compared the cost of Everton’s new stadium against our stand thinking we paid a premium
