North Stand Construction Discussion

Why ?...... when there are few if any safety, security, segregation, logistics or transport issues.

If considered 'holistically' there are benefits for all parties on all fronts in addition to the the principal one of enhancing the existence of the atmosphere in a CITY end.

I genuinely do not understand the resistance !!

Because they have it boxed off now with all fans in one corner. Easy segregation. And all sorted outside with the away carpark and entrances.

Why would they even consider fucking about so City fans are above them in two stands. Additional headaches with segregation and entry. And as the other guy says, fucking City fans about who’ve been in the stand for 20 years. Plus police problems.

All because it may or may not slightly improve the atmosphere?

Won’t happen.

Thanks pal, I didn’t see that as I jumped straight to the last page.

It is a level of 'hospitality', as an offering, no doubt about that. It is just where on the scale of 'proper fans' to 'proper corporate' that really ends up that people's understanding and expectations differ.

Still, it is 648 seats, out of over 9500 in a single tier, and over 12000 overall. The atmosphere should be able to survive that imo.

Overall under 13% of hospitality and only 5% dedicated separate boxes etc, is good going imo.

Going to look into that when it comes on offer. At present I am in block 211 which is a fair way from the Metrolink stop, that would be much nearer.

Are any bands booked in for the Stadium next Summer?

Only asking because we make some of serious money by having the biggest bands play at the Etihad every summer. (Lets be honest Taylor Swift would have been at the Etihad not Anfield this summer if it wasn't for the building works)!

There is a rumor going round of an Oasis reunion next summer with 10 nights in Manchester. I cant see anyone booked into play next summer at the Ground?

Probably a load of crap but it makes you think? Noel has got his own kit this year and now gets seen at more games than Pete the Badge!
Are City allowed any big concerts as they own/part own the Coop live?

It is a long road back to a decent atmosphere at any of the regular European qualifiers, football has been sanitised to death over the years and the bigger you get the more new supporters you get.
The younger fans seem to be a lot more enthusiastic than the FOC's which is natural, but ultimately the clubs desire for money and growth will dictate what they do with the expansion, I remember back in the day on the old Kippax one person started a chant and everyone joined in, now if one person starts a chant very few join in, I admire the 1894 group and any other groups trying to change things but one thing sticks in my mind,
When other fans came to Maine Road we took it as a challenge if they were loud and tried to out sing them far too many fold there arms and listen to the away fans even in the singing section, Our fans need to be as one if the South stand sing the East stand should join in and vise versa not start a different chant, maybe the key is a meeting with each other and not the club.
We are no worse than anyone else throughout the full season but we used to be better than most and as good as any. Can we have the same atmosphere as years ago, I'm not sure but good luck to all those trying to improve things and I hope you succeed.
In Thailand many years ago and just paid a bar fine to take her from there back to my room to teach her the finer points of speaking English ( honestly). Anyway we were walking past this bar and the shutter was halfway down and looked in and we we were playing Hamburg so obviously stooped in and asked was it ok to come in for a quick beer?. He said yes and the guy was from North Manchester called BAZ and he was a blue. Now I know that it can be a bit flat at the ground at times but this was before Mancini and we had won fuckall for years but the atmosphere that night on that big screen was something else it wasn’t a roar but a scream like I’ve never heard before (apart from Colin bell’s return against Newcastle in the 70s). Even though we didn’t progress further that night i at least found a new bar in La Mai in Koh Samui. The girl? That’s another story with a happy ending. Baz by the way a few years died later of an heart attack in his bedroom above the bar in his City shirt. Sorely missed.

I was at the Colin Bell return game, to this day and for me it is the best atmosphere I have ever heard or felt.
