North Stand Construction Discussion

Load of bollocks. Sometimes detrimental change is implemented so slowly it is hardly noticed. The next thing you know the club is hardly recognisable from the one you know and love.

1894 are wise to it, they’re on the front foot to make things difficult for the club to implement their real strategy - making our ground increasingly corporate, making tickets unaffordable for the average fan, removing season tickets so more tickets can be sold for inflated prices with little or no regard of whose hands they fall into, trying to squeeze an extra few pounds out of disabled supporters. That’s not to mention the work they do supporting local food banks and taking a stand on wider issues like the ridiculous number of trips to Wembley and kick off times which impact all of us.

You should be grateful there is a group who is actually alert to what is really happening and is willing to speak up instead of rolling over and accepting the club executives true vision. If they weren’t making a noise about these issues I couldn’t see lackies like City Matters or the OSC making a peep about them, let alone making any real difference.

Great post.

I noticed one of the people earlier pushing back on those sharing this view was one of those ‘if you can’t afford it don’t go’ types.

Thankfully groups like 1894 still fight for the rights of fans rather than boot lick or roll over to the corporate juggernaut.

Yeah I did, they can get fucked and all.

To issue such a petty moany response, mere hours after the club announcement, smacks of pure entitlement and self indulgence. Did they even have time to consult their own members? Did they fuck.

They have a very limited and stubborn view, and despite passing it off as representing many, it comes off as a singular personal crusade. I don't even think they actually care, they just want to champion their conflict with the club.

That's how their statements have read so far. It is almost embarrassing.

Zero sympathy or even understanding for them now.
given everything they do is of their own spare time and costs them financially themselves to put in the last thing 1894 are about is self indulgence

they have gone to their membership and got as many responses as possible so they've actually done something no other City supporters group has done, even though they could quite easily do that

did they have time to consult their members ? they've done that throughout, members gave them the red lines to negotiate on and take to the club. you don't move house without knowing the cost first or even if you can buy it - or when you get there you can only ever rent it. that's why announcements on prices and availability of seasoncards is important, you can't have an atmosphere with 8,000 different people there each week.

negotiation pays off - the statement says the door remains open. the first meeting there was no provision for safe standing/ rail seating at all. the second meeting the club came up with 3000 and now they are saying there's a possibility of 3000. that's the club moving position slowly.

not sure anyone at 1894 would seek your sympathy or understanding if you can't see the detail is important for fans to make an informed choice

They aren’t moving to 7/8000 so that’s a stupid red line. They have said they will increase the 3000 if demand is there, so prove the demand is there by filling the 3000.

The 1894 members were consulted by 1894. Their feedback was given to the club. The club know exactly what the 1894 members wanted.

Did the club consult with the wider City fan base about the configuration of the North stand? Do the club know what the wider City fan base wanted for the configuration of the North stand?

Rather than slating 1894, why don't you ask yourself why the club didn't engage with you and the wider fan base about the configuration of the North stand?

Bar the 1894 questionnaire feedback, the discussions with the fan reps, which were NDA'd by the club, the club got no feedback at all from the wider fan base about the configuration of the North stand.

If you read the 1894 statement properly instead of getting all emotional and upset about it, there are a lot of good ideas that were put forward to the club that the wider fan base may have supported?

And no, 1894 don't think they represent 'all City fans'. Just to clear that misconception up. 1894 are just one voice supporting City fans.

In September I got an email questionnaire from the club.

I would have liked a similar email questionnaire for the North stand configuration, but as far as I'm aware the club never sent any out.

how can you prove the demand without knowing any prices and if there's a commitment to the atmosphere. they currently take seats returned from the south stand and put them into the corporate allocation and sell on as a package for huge amounts. would they do the same in the north stand. yes they would - unless they go unchecked.

club has not clarified if the section is one section or split
it would be behind thousands of other City fans who are sat down
It would be in front of hotel room balconies and under a restaurant / hospitality floating 3rd tier
there is no detail on prices or if there is a commitment to re-introduce seasoncards

some people probably sign for a house without getting a survey done or reading the small print

do you think fans should move there without knowing any detail ?
do you think the fact they didn't survey the support or put the plans in with the council and got approval 9 months before offering to speak to any fan group is a good sign ?

they've not said they are not going. they've said make it attractive to fans and tell fans the full picture on prices, they'll have a business plan and fans are entitled to ask what that is
