North Stand Construction Discussion

A new build may well be the most likely option but when? I imagine ADUG will want to see some return on the £300M investment in the north stand expansion before demolishing the entire stadium to build a new one.
Absolutely.... but fail to plan, plan to fail !!

Look at the rags !!

Plans and CGIs do exist of expanded E & W stands/ 4th tiers/corners creating a true bowel.

The spirals are incorporated in to the structure.

This, and a new build stadium remain 'futuristic' but have been through various iterations, feasability and viability studies.

A new build is the most likely option.

Depends, in what capacity they 'exist'.

There is probably a concept floating about but I wouldn't rush to believe there are 'plans' in place, or at least not to a meaningful level.

Off topic, but hotel related.

Stock Exchange Hotel and Hotel Football both part owned by Gary Neville made loses totalling millions.

It will be very interesting to see what price point the Etihad stadium hotel will be pitched at, and what star rating it will be.

Planning docs say that it is going to be pitched squarely at the leisure hotel market. I'd expect it to be in a similar range to the Malmaison and the Clayton, 4****, £150-200 a night territory.

I thought both Hilton and Marriott were in talks with City to take over the hotel and Hilton was ahead given their experience of having an integrated hotel (which they have recently expanded as well) at the Old Trafford (the real Old Trafford that is, the cricket one) but City batted it back that they won't accept a Garden Inn (which I believe is Hilton's second tier brand that is part of the Old Trafford cricket stadium), so they came back with this being a flagship Hilton or DoubleTree. Not sure what happened after those initial talks ...

"never backed claim"....what do you mean ?

I dont recall ever claiming anything.

Discuss !!

The claim that these plans exist, to the capacity you suggest.

Don't get me wrong I fully believe you when you say you have seen them. I just don't think they are as ready to roll out as you make out. And with this being something you have seen and nobody else has, then it can't be backed by default.

Where did you hear this out of interest?

Given that Mandarin Oriental are a club partner, any chance they will run the hotel?
