North Stand Construction Discussion

The club are investing 9 figures on making the ground and arena a daily destination tens of thousands of people, getting them there must be among the top priorities.

You'd think. I spoke to someone at city about this once and it seems some are absolutely shitting it tbh about the logistics. They're already aware of the massive headache that is transport on a match day and the vibe I got was this was going to open up an even more painful can of worms.

So a new £300m build to go with the £375m Arena (half from us), £200m CFA and £80m South Stand third tier...

£955m just on that. It's fair to say we have bought and paid for this stadium ten times over!

And still haven’t got a proper left back...

;-)

The transport proposals make sense if blues change their matchday habits, but that is unlikely. The idea would be that people come and go at different times. Maybe they stay in the area for a few drinks afterwards, or come earlier to enjoy the facilities. Maybe the family meat up for a meal or stay around the area whilst a few go off to the game and there isn't a max exodus at the final whistle (or 10mins before)!

In theory it works, but it's unlikely to have the impact they wanted. Ideally they could have had a guided busway to and from the area which can avoid the wider traffic, but it seems like we're stuck with improved walking routes and some extra trams/buses which just will not cut it.

Thats really interesting and says they don't have much faith in discussions with transport providers. I'm guessing the club is a little hamstrung in that it cant say we will build a huge fuck off multi story to house 1000's more cars because of the green agenda that they must comply with. On the other hand they are faced with a public transport system that is not fit for purpose on match days and is likely to remain that way. Can you give any more detail about your discussion?
