Aye there is fierce competition from Arenas in different parts on the country ! I’m sure an arena operator in Manchester is massively concerned about competition from London !!!

Do you know anything about the occupancy levels of arenas or hotels ?

Do you think you Oak View and City have not done months of research into the viability of an arena and City with whoever will be their partner in the hotel.

Maybe they should have taken your advice and looked in the paper and saw that there is a 6 day gap before the next show at the AO and scrapped the whole idea.

Maybe they should have ignored the hotel occupancy rates data for Manchester and just gone with your two bob ‘research’ that ‘nobody will want to stay there’.

As much as I welcome the arena in terms of extra revenue for the club etc, there is a possibility it could leave the city centre with a white elephant as well as affecting those businesses in and around Victoria Station that equally depend on x amount of concerts at the MEN Arena each year.

That part of the city is one of the most exciting areas and up and coming areas regardless of the MEN. New Century and surrounding area, White Hotel, Red Bank, Green quarter finally feeling like a place you'd want to spend time in.

Go on www.yourparkingspace.co.uk and search for Asda Eastlands. £6 to park for the day or you can buy a monthly pass for £80, although I'm not sure many Blues would take up the monthly option. Doesn't seem there are any pre-book spaces for the Newcastle game left though.

I totally agree. These people are world class and don’t make major investments lightly. This is visceral capitalism at work not some half-arsed “public money“ investment.
