North Stand Construction Discussion

dont get why people are bashing the German atmosphere so much, yes its orchestrated, and planned, I'd rather listen to that than bloody crickets chirping....

most of the complaints seem to come from a loud minority who dont actually do anything to contribute to atmosphere anyway.

Do you really think these fans are actually WATCHING the game? Or... are their eyes constantly following the orchestrator.

I sit in ESL3 half way up and level with the North Stand penalty area the seats offer a great view and are reasonable priced ! My fear is that eventually both East and West Stand Level 3 will be come fully corporate levels and supporters will be offered relocation to other areas in the stadium mainly the new North Stand ! If it happens it happens but not sure what real plans they to have for the new tier as a home end and or are they just going to use the new tier of 7900 seats to relocate fans from other stands ! The centre circle seats of both East and West Level two are now both corporate areas! Think this needs broaching with Danny Wilson at any meeting with him !
Interestingly my seat price is currently the same price as the first rows of South Stand Level 3 which adds to my concerns for the new North Stand !

East Stand Level 2 will be corporate long before Level 3.

Have I missed something? I have seen messages talking about the seating plan for the new north stand, does anyone have that? Is it looking like it is aimed at corporate?

There are corporate areas at the top of the stand, with booth, viewing rooms, joint rooms with the hotel etc. Almost nobody is upset about this, as far as I have seen.

There is also a zone of 600 seats in the middle of the stand at the front of L2, which are no different to any other seats, but are noted as GA+ (general admission plus). They have access to a bar below the seats on the concourse, which is 'separate', as it is coloured purple. It shares the same concourse toilets, and access to the other 2 bars on the concourse. A few people are very upset about this, or their own interpretation of what this ultimately might be. Some are expecting a meeting with the club, so there might be more clarity in time.

It started in June. This is all part of it mate.
This is just ground preparation work.from a separate planning application. The main construction work is scheduled to begin in November ! Unless a contractor had been annouched the main work is still out for tender although it seems Sisk are almost certain to get the job .

Is this new info?

Yes all true, but those works are still a big part of it. The deadline doesn't happen without those works under way already, and the November main construction doesn't begin without it.

There will be many overlaps, and what is 'main' to one person won't be to another.

For all intents and purposes though, the project has started. How the rest unfolds time will tell.

October was the original planned date for starting construction but @bluesmith has said it might be pushed back.

I keep saying this, it all depends on what people consider as 'starting', and what 'main' means to them.

Both are technically right, there would have been works in October and November. And there have been works since June. There is no clear black and whit start, it overlaps. For example week 33 of the original programme (may have shifted, but as an example) there will be drainage works, roof removals, roof installation, and concourse installation all overlapping. Impossible to call anything in clear line terms. Other than the ultimate start and finish.

Does anybody out there in the construction industry know about Sisk history on other contracts. Stories about the new contractors on the Anfield extension say a lot of the internal work needs redoing and just wonder about how Sisk are viewed in the industry.

I'm comfortable with them being appointed. Must have been a reason we didn't appoint Laing again considering they were in discussions and did the South Stand and our owners know the construction game pretty well.
