North Stand Construction Discussion

Various reasons. It's a discussion and argument that nobody can win. It’s a discussion and argument that will go on until the stand is open.

For me it's down to the demographics of our support that will be moving to NSL2, and the restrictions placed upon that support by the club, the seating layout, which we all ready know about, rules and regulations being implemented by the club and stewards, no standing(it won't be a safe standing tier), etc.

I accept for the 4-5 big games per season the atmosphere in the new NSL2 and around the ground will take care of itself.
How do you know it won't be safe standing ?

has anyone thought it might be a nice experience for some to be in that little bit in the north stand? Really not convinced its worth getting stressed about when it comes to the whole development when you see the shit others have? The theatre of shit falling apart, the dippers contractor going bust and klanfield looks shit with every stand different heights, shapes etc?

There is also a lot of romance about atmosphere's in the past.

In my experience you may get 5/6 stunning games with the atmosphere to go with it and that HAS ALWAYS been the case. Maine rd was often very flat for a lot of games.

The fact remains the people that now go to games has changed drastically as has society, football is no longer the working man's game, going to a match at a top level elite club is almost like going to the theatre these days.

And when people are getting arrested for "offensive shouting" good luck trying to create some banter/atmosphere!

Just a bit of clarification on this. Nobody has "demanded" a meeting with the club. We've asked for a meeting and the club have agreed to meet with us.
LEXProject " can't we demand a meeting"

As in my reply to them, relax, let them build the stand and see how things progress, getting stressed out before the build is just silly.

Don't have a go at me. Just a general observation from Saturday.

SSL3 support demographics. Mainly FOC's, Middle-aged Men and middle-aged Women, some younger women, kids.(full kits) More of a family and friendly feel and atmosphere. Very civil on the concourse. No chanting on the concourse.

SSL1 support demographics. FOC's, Youth (teens into their early thirties), some Women, not many kids. A bit of bear pit. Plenty of chanting on the concourse.

The new home end will work as long as the supporters in the existing vocal areas move there. The fact that they are all together and close to a roof will make it work superbly.

What’s SSL3 got to do with a new home end in the north stand?

As long as there is safe standing and a clear and organised path to make something happen between club and fans, then it can work.

That's one individual poster mate. 1894 have requested a meeting and we've been told that we'll get one.

I don't think waiting until the stand has been built is the answer though - by then the club will have long since decided what will be going in there

Ha, ha, pile on! (not just you PIB :-))

I don’t for sure. Nobody does apart from the club, but they aren’t saying.

But if you read the PA, safe standing is mentioned as a future option on NSL1.

I would be utterly amazed, yet pleasantly surprised if City installed safe standing on NSL2 behind the hospitality sevtion at the front of the stand, and behind the ambulant seating, which will be 1 row behind the hospitality section, and behind the ambulant seating on the corner lower blocks, and in-front of the hotel seating at the back of the stand. I stand corrected on that section of seating until I look at it PA again.

I hope the club do install safe standing in NSL2, but going off what’s planned for NSL2 in the PA, which may change over the coming years before the home end is opened, I personally can’t see NSL2 being fully or partially made safe standing. As per the PA, I can see NSL1 being made safe standing so both SSL1 and NSL1 are the 2 main standing areas, along with 111 and 110.(is 109 safe standing?)

Those are my thoughts. I’m not going to get into a spat over them. People can either accept them or dismiss them. It’s nit a big issue.
