North Stand Construction Discussion

If yesterday showed anything, it showed the amount of support we have from families with young kids who never get the chance to see City play a PL match at the Etihad because they can’t buy or get affordable group tickets where they can all sit together as a family. When the Etihad is expanded to 62,000 seats, somehow Khalddon, Soriano, Danny Wilson & Co need to find a way to get more young fans (they looked great yesterday all wearing their City scarfs, hats, etc) and their families watching PL matches together. Another family stand isn’t the answer. Families need to allowed to sit in different parts of the ground together. City should make a family bundle of seats at affordable prices available for every PL home match when the Etihad is expanded to 62,000 seats.

There isnt too much being read in to the plans, thats what the club have asked the Designers to design and the contractors to price so its clear that's what the club want. Plans can change but i think its unlikely at this stage.
The club also has form for not being truthful on this issue after telling 1894 group that no hospitality would be designed in to the new stand when they had already issued the design with hospitality included to contractors.

I think he is talking about how it can be used, rather than changing what is built. And he is right. It is flexible enough for a variety of uses after being opened.

Affordable tickets is the answer but a 62,000 capacity still limits that for a vast majority of the games we play.

The club simply won't sell cheap tickets for major Prem/Champions league games.

The stand has to be paid for and create profit so that means hospitality is part of it, if you want us to remain a top elite club winning titles we have to have an elite turnover.

Tickets have to be more affordable (and available) across the board. This will only become apparent if we see a slump in winning trophies. At the moment the club are in a position to milk it and with the FFP none of us should blame them for taking this approach.

Still can't get away from the WHU example. They may not be charging an arm and a leg for tickets, but they are building for the future whilst not winning anything by having Dads, Mum's & Grandads being able to create memories, like a lot on here have. If you can cut out the noise about 'empty seat's, which all the history clubs have, then it seems to make sense to me.

It won't happen, of course, but we seem to prioritise tourist over our own, but there should be room for both. The events on the pitch, at half time were so good, that the rag loving bbc felt they had to mention it.

I dont disagree but adding 700 seats to the bottom of what should be a home end adds about a million quid to the turnover over a year. I'm not sure that outweighs the need to create a better atmosphere personally.

Only if you think 640 slightly more expensive seats, out of approx 12000, really dampens the atmosphere so significantly.

The club should. They now give 10% of away tickets to the youth. It's worked great. With no complaints from the away going FOC's or OSC branch members. City should put aside a % (percentage) of PL home tickets for qualifying families. How the club do and manage that is up to them. They can do it if they want to do it. That is the issue.

Bar the amount of seats, it's their location, right at the front of the stand. It will impact on the support behind those seats. Fans sitting behind the proposed hospitality seats will probably want to watch the match as the seats will be priced accordingly, as they are also at the front of the stand, but behind the hospitality seats, and because of the price of those seats. Those seats also include a proposed row of Ambulant seating. There won't be anyone standing and singing behind the hospitality section or further back in the tier if the proposed seating arrangments in NSL2 go ahead.
