North Stand Construction Discussion

There's a post I've read I think on bluemoon where the poster listed a seat on the exchange and then spoke to the lad who had bought it at the match and they said they got it from live football tickets.

I've asked fans at away games, same answer.

We know for a fact we had a link with Viagogo it's fairly clear to me we have one now with live football tickets.
A far away fan like me used to get the cheapest ticket I could (£40)from the club a couple of weeks before I fly over. Now it’s £140 from live football and I get an email ticket 24hrs before the game sent whilst I'm halfway across the Atlantic

If the super league had gone ahead there would have been 1000’s of empty seats at the Etihad. I would have packed it in, like 1000’s of other City fans. Those seats would have been filled by our new fans, tourists, football fans, day trippers, half and half scarfers who want to watch City play Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, etc instead of Burnley, Luton, Villa, Everton, etc.
Maybe but things would have settled down & fans would return to watch the top European sides (IMHO). if we’d been left behind we’d certainly have 30k older blues but no new fan base coming through. Eventually the old PL would be forgotten

Fortunately it didn’t happen & we were one of the first teams to pull out. But we couldn’t risk being left behind & sinking to a Championship level

Do you honestly think City fans would have returned to watch what is basically a Champions (Super) League every week and every season? Not me.

Your right, with or without fans, a half full Etihad stadium, City would have still earned £100's of millions from TV. (pay per view revenue)

Remember, football is nothing without the fans? That's what we were told during the COVID season by the clubs, who welcomed us back and our money with open arms.

I'm starting to feel pessimistic about this stand now from a fan/atmosphere perspective. I think it will look great and be an outstanding facility but I've got the feeling the money people have absolutely no intention of making this a City end/blue wall. I do believe the original intention when designing an expanded 2nd tier was for this to happen but once these money people got their mitts on it, it became something else entirely.

Instead, they might want to fill it with more casual fans so they can hang around the new City Square before and after the game, spending their money in the shop, bars and eateries. There's just a total lack of noise from the club about making it anything else with the fan groups almost having to desperately try and twist an arm when it should be the club reaching out to the fans.

It would be a shame because I believe the visual of a blue wall so to speak would bring in new fans over time in itself since young fans would see it and want to be part of it.
Monetise, monetise, monetise. PSR and FFP have seen to that. ALL clubs have to put revenue before fans. The gentrification of the working man's game is almost complete. The only winners will be pubs, where all us legacy fans will congregate to see our teams.

In 20 years the pubs in Manchester will have home and away sections for us minions whilst tourists and the wealthy stink out the stadium with half n half's, influencers, selfies and instagram photo opportunities on every aisle.

The NS will be full, every week, but not with the likes of us, that's for sure.

I'll probably be dead in 20 years, so I don't have to worry about that happening to me. :-)

Man I'm just here for the nuts and bolts, one of the few threads with relatively little Bluegloom. Bit a bit of a downer here today, hopefully some excitement back in the fold at some point soon.

Likewise mate.

We've had the best of it, no doubt. If feel sorry for the next generation who will never experience what it truly means to be a Blue.

It's sickening.
We have Dodge. From standing on the old Kippax at Maine Road, to seeing City winning the Treble. Great memories on my death bed. :-)
